FIVE OF PENTACLES
The Anxious Outcast
We are not born feeling inadequate. Life experiences and emotions create that sense within us in a variety of destructive ways. Not enough money, not enough time, not enough love, not enough… All this scarcity stems from the faulty core belief: “I am not enough.” A belief which keeps us on the outside of everything. Worry is a type of mental lethargy that can become a habit. An unconscious negative self-talk loop, constantly reinforcing itself through negative life experiences. An atelophobia with debilitating consequences. Here Mercury has been stifled by the gravity of Ta**us. This Five card reminds us that we are presently inanimate: dead to action. We can change directions, be they financial, physical, emotional or mental only by moving. You were born enough and always will be.
Card Description
A woman on her knees flogs herself with a cat-o-nine tails: an indication of how worry is self- abuse. Selfishness, self-pity, self-indulgence, self-delusion and self-renunciation are the five stripes that she has placed across her own back. The setting is cold and dark reflecting her thoughts and feelings about herself. She is outside a warmly lit house with open doors and a celebration going on inside. She is welcome, if only she moves. There are five inverted pentacles on the house which imply difficulties and/or that the fears of the body have conquered the will. The symbols for Mercury and Ta**us reside in the dark sky. Mercurial energy is opposed in Taurian earth, simply because earth has a natural tendency to be stationary while Mercury is in swift motion.
Meanings & Musings
Worry about material things or health, feeling trapped in past pain, problematic communication, fear of existence, insecurity, deprivation, exclusion, dishonesty, persistence.
We inherit a deeply ingrained narrative that who we are in this moment is inherently deficient. To cope with the underlying terror of this perceived inadequacy, the human mind eagerly seeks refuge in absolute certainties and rigid belief systems. We attach our entire sense of self to these external frameworks, hoping they will finally grant us the validation we feel we lack. In doing so, we unwittingly outsource our innate power to a script that dictates our behavior and measures our righteousness. We become locked in a cycle of trying to earn love and safety from a mechanism that thrives on our ongoing sense of incompletion. The profound misunderstanding is that we are looking for an outside force to cure a defect that only exists as a concept in our minds. Real freedom is the sudden, beautiful realization that you have spent your whole life trying to become what you already are.

Cancer has always belonged to the places we return to.
The home.
The womb.
The grave.
The family line.
The locked room inside the heart where memory keeps breathing long after the moment has passed.
This is why Cancer’s energy can be explored so powerfully through Hekate.
Hekate is not usually placed in soft places, but she has always stood at the threshold. She is the goddess of crossroads, doorways, liminal spaces, night roads, spirits, keys, torches, protection, witchcraft, and the moonlit unseen.
Cancer is a threshold sign too.
It stands between the outer world and the inner world.
Between the public face and the private wound.
Between the living family and the ancestors who shaped the blood before birth.
Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and the Moon has always been connected to tides, dreams, cycles, intuition, memory, motherhood, grief, protection, and the hidden emotional body. The Moon does not reveal everything at once. It waxes. It wanes. It disappears. It returns.
So does Cancer.
So does grief.
So does ancestral memory.
Hekate’s magic moves in a similar rhythm. She is not only the torch-bearer at the crossroads. She is the one who stands where worlds touch. She guards the door between what is known and what is buried. She appears when someone must choose a path, leave an old life, honour the dead, protect the home, or listen to the voice beneath ordinary thought.
Cancer’s connection to Hekate is not loud.
It is not theatrical.
It is the candle in the window.
The key beneath the palm.
The bowl of water under moonlight.
The dream of a grandmother you never met.
The sudden feeling that a house remembers everything.
Cancer teaches that emotion is not weakness. It is information. It is ancestral weather moving through the body. It is the old tide that rises when something sacred has been touched.
Hekate teaches that not every doorway should be opened without protection, and not every memory comes forward to harm us. Some memories return because they want to be witnessed. Some ancestors linger because their stories were never spoken. Some emotions become ghosts when we refuse to name them.
Together, Cancer and Hekate form a deeply protective current.
This is the magic of the guarded home.
The moonlit bloodline.
The ancestral altar.
The mother wound.
The spirit at the threshold.
The sacred instinct that knows when something is wrong before proof arrives.
Cancer says, “I remember.”
Hekate says, “I will light the way through what you remember.”
This pairing is not only about family, motherhood, or emotion. It is about spiritual inheritance. It is about the unseen things carried through generations. It is about the homes that hold secrets, the names whispered at night, the protective rituals passed down without being called witchcraft.
A locked door.
A salt line.
A candle for the dead.
A prayer spoken over a child.
A key worn close to the heart.
A bowl of moon water on the windowsill.
These are Cancer and Hekate together.
The emotional body becoming sacred.
The home becoming a temple.
The past becoming a doorway.
The Moon becoming not just a light in the sky, but a mirror showing us what the soul has never truly forgotten.

THE LOVERS
Combination of Contrasts
Love is the heartbeat of life. It is the dynamic pulse of creativity, destruction and evolution. The Lovers card is not one of childish romance, or a quest for security. It is one of solve et coagula: the basic rhythm of alchemical transformation. The Lovers represent Venus and Mars or, on a higher level, Sun and Moon. This is the path of the sword, which implies that self-annihilation is practiced when one is "in love." Love requires self-sacrifice. Love is a longing to merge with something greater than oneself. In every kind of love is a force that holds the promise of taking us beyond the limitations of our individual lives. Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. Love does not possess nor would it be possessed. For love is sufficient unto love. And do not think you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. So summon your courage and trust in The Lovers. In all ways, Love wins.
Card Description
A couple sits in a yab-yum position which literally translates as "father-mother." The male figure represents compassion and skillful means, while the female partner represents insight. Beside them, also in yab-yum, is a pair of bonobos, a species of great ape that shares nearly 99 percent of our DNA. Bonobos are the only non-human primate to engage in such s*xual actions such as face-to-face s*x, oral s*x and tongue kissing. They are a reminder of our own carnal nature. Above the couple is perched a white cockatiel, a symbol of both our inherent need to be social and also of the witness to our higher selves. A volcano erupts in the background showing the combining forces of nature that result in life itself. A sword stands in the flame indicating the path of Zain (the sword). The Gemini symbol is tattooed on the man representing the astrological ruler of the card. And the symbol Ofagrim Bel, for Unity, is tattooed on the woman. It reawakens the joyful link to everything in existence, conveying to us a sense of universal unity.
Meanings & Musings
Devotion, melting into one another, empathy, surrender, repression, trust, courage, mutual pe*******on.

Carl Jung once said: “The greatest and most important problems of life are all fundamentally insoluble. They can never be solved, but only outgrown.” And the problem that will haunt you the most isn't your trauma, your failures, or your past. It's the quiet, comfortable life you've built that no longer fits the person you're trying to become, and the terrifying truth that you can't solve it. You can only outgrow it.
Most people spend their entire lives trying to solve the wrong equation. They think if they just arrange the pieces more perfectly, a better job, a slightly more fulfilling relationship, a more optimized morning routine, the hollow ache will finally disappear. But the ache isn't a problem to be fixed. It's a signal that you've outgrown the container you're living in, and no amount of rearranging the furniture will make the walls any wider.
You built this container for good reasons. It kept you safe. It gave you predictability. It earned you respect from people whose approval you no longer even crave. But the psyche, Jung understood, is not a problem-solving machine. It's an unfolding. It grows in spirals, not straight lines, and when it reaches the edge of its current form, it doesn't ask for a solution. It asks for a death. The death of the smaller self so a larger one can breathe.
This is the velvet coffin in its truest form: not a crisis, but a ceiling. You're not breaking down. You're not depressed in any clinical sense. You're just too big for your life now, and the friction you feel isn't a sign that something's wrong. It's a sign that you're ready to shed a skin that's become too tight. But shedding requires the one thing your comfortable life was designed to eliminate: willing, conscious discomfort.
The reason people stay stuck isn't that they don't know what to do. It's that they keep trying to solve an existential problem with a practical answer. Quit the job. End the relationship. Move to a new city. And sometimes those are the right moves. But they aren't solutions; they're just larger containers. The real outgrowing happens inside, in the quiet, unglamorous work of letting go of the identity that the old life gave you.
That identity will fight to survive. It will tell you you're being ungrateful. It will remind you of everything you've built and ask how you could possibly walk away from it. It will whisper that the unknown is a cliff, not a doorway. This is the shadow of outgrowing: the part of you that would rather stay small and miserable than risk becoming someone you can't yet predict. And that voice is not your enemy. It's just old wiring, trying to keep you alive in a world that no longer exists.
Holy friction, the chosen, daily step into what scares you, is how you outgrow rather than solve. You don't need to blow up your life. You need to stretch it. One honest conversation. One hour of genuine solitude. One creative risk that has no guaranteed payoff. These acts don't fix the problem. They expand the self, and a larger self finds that the old problem no longer fits. It hasn't been solved. It's been rendered irrelevant.
The door out of the velvet coffin isn't a solution. It's a willingness to grow until the coffin can no longer contain you. You were never meant to spend your life solving the ache. You were meant to outgrow the person who needed the ache to feel alive. The ceiling is not your limit. It's just the top of the current version of you. Keep growing. The rest takes care of itself.

After days of sobering data correlating the effects of p**n and men’s health, let's talk about what's actually working for s*xual, intimate, and relational health in different parts of our world - and why…
→ In Denmark, 96% of kids receive formal s*x education, in a secular (non-religious) culture with notably less shame and stigma around s*xuality than we have here - that makes frank, comprehensive s*x education uncontroversial in a way it often isn't in the US
→ The Netherlands has the lowest teen pregnancy rate in Europe and mandates s*x education starting at age 4 - not "the talk," but age-appropriate foundations in consent, communication, and respect.
→ Sweden introduced comprehensive s*x education back in the 1950s - and researchers tracking their effects found measurable improvements in gender attitudes and relationship outcomes that persisted into the next generation. A study published in 2023 by the IZA Institute of Labor Economics found that teaching one generation that s*xuality could be discussed with autonomy, responsibility, and without shame changed how they parented their own children around these topics.
→ Icelanders report an average of about 119 s*xual encounters per year - compared to Japan's average of around 45 - nearly triple. Let’s parse this out as to why…
Significantly, like the Scandinavian countries above, Iceland shares the kind of low-shame cultural environment that makes frank, comprehensive s*x education uncontroversial - but additionally, it benefits from a cultural notion of "strong women" with roots stretching back to women's cultural and religious authority during the commonwealth period. This translates directly into how DESIRE is expressed. Iceland tops the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap ranking, and as a result, Icelanders are far less likely to pathologize women who take as much interest in s*x as men are expected to. It's considered completely normal in Iceland for a woman to approach a man she's attracted to - because the culture's equal approach to men and women makes this unremarkable, rather than transgressive with the kind of shaming or stereotypes we have here. So Iceland's frequency isn't high because Icelanders are simply more s*xual - it’s high because two people approaching each other as genuine equals - economically, socially, and in terms of who's "allowed"to desire- removes an enormous amount of friction, shame, and performance pressure from the entire equation.
Contrast this with Japan’s frequency and current culture: Work stress and economic pressure are central reasons for declining s*xual activity - long hours, job insecurity, and chronic stress reduce both the opportunity for connection and the desire for it. There's also a structural gender dimension: Japan's karoshi ("death from overwork") culture remains deeply tied to rigid, patriarchal workplace norms, and the same conditions that produce burnout and overwork also produce relational exhaustion. It's almost a mirror image of Iceland - where Iceland's gender equality and cultural permission create ease, Japan's rigid hierarchy and overwork culture create depletion. What can WE learn from the qualities of these two environments for cultivating a vibrant and healthy environment for authentic relational intimacy?
A few more cultural environments to consider:
Greece reports the highest weekly s*xual frequency globally in Durex's research - 87% of adults having s*x at least once a week. Why? According to the European Journal of Social Psychology, Greeks report high body confidence and better emotional availability - two factors directly tied to both frequency and satisfaction. Additionally, the Greek diet, rich in omega-3s, olive oil, and antioxidants, also supports vascular health, which is directly tied to erectile function and libido.
France's cultural signature is different - an emphasis on foreplay and emotional intimacy specifically, rather than frequency for its own sake.
And in Portugal, research on adults 65 and older found that s*xual satisfaction, healthy adjustment to aging, and overall life satisfaction were closely linked - Portuguese culture doesn't quietly des*xualize people as they age, the way American culture often does.
So what do these places have in common that we can learn from?
It's not that they're "more permissive.”
* They teach emotional literacy and consent right alongside biology.
* There’s a respect and cultural norm of equality that shows up in expressions of desire, initiative and relating.
* Culturally, they value slowness - long meals, real conversations, less always being "on."
The healthiest s*xual cultures on earth aren't the ones with the fewest rules. They're the ones where men were taught, early and often, that tenderness and masculinity are not in competition. Emotional health, equality, consent and expressions of touch and intimacy do not run counter to what is deemed “masculine.”
Additionally, Mediterranean meals, siestas, and a generally less productivity-obsessed relationship with time directly support the parasympathetic, unhurried conditions that arousal - especially female arousal - requires. And critically, normalized physical affection and emotional availability as masculine traits, not feminine ones - which is precisely the piece missing from American masculinity.
A practice for men today: A letter of support and intimacy for your younger masculine.
Slow down… write a letter to yourself when you were becoming a teen-ager. What are the things you know now that you would have loved to have heard from a mentor that you respect and admire when you were moving through puberty, maybe unsure about your body changes, what being a “man” meant you had to do or be, around your evolving s*xuality, maybe issues with belonging or needing to prove yourself. And considering what you know now, how would you mentor and support your younger self? How might you do so now? This is just for you: between you and your younger self. Consider re-parenting your young man in ways he always wanted and yearned for but never received.. Then do so for a younger man or growing teen in your own life now - you’ll be doing it for the both of you.

On July 19, 2026, four outer planets snap to the exact same degree: 4°.
Pluto. Neptune. Uranus. Jupiter.
All strung together by trines and s*xtiles.
Then the Moon hits 4° Libra, completes the fifth point, and the sky locks into a shape it almost never makes:
Five points of a six-pointed star. Solomon’s Seal. The Star of David, drawn in the heavens.
Astrologers call this “greased lightning,” i.e. energy moving with almost no resistance. Here’s what it ignites. 👇
1️⃣ Jupiter in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius - the engine of the whole pattern.
The hierarchies we built our world on start to crack: leaders, institutions, the figures we put on pedestals. Power starts flowing back to the individual.
2️⃣ A financial tipping point.
Jupiter–Pluto oppositions have always marked monumental economic turns and the unpayable debts of 2020 finally come due.
3️⃣ Uranus in Gemini - information and technology accelerating past overload.
A quantum leap in how fast reality moves.
4️⃣ Neptune in Aries -the old 3D illusion dissolving.
A wave of sudden awakenings that pulls you out of victimhood and into your own spiritual authority.
This is a lightning bolt to the trajectory of human evolution.
The centralized, top-down world is dissolving in real time.
And the invitation hidden inside the chaos is simple: stop waiting for the world to fix itself. Build the one you came here to build.
The old world ends here.
The next one is ours.
