What exactly is kinship care?
It’s when a child who can’t safely live with their parents is cared for by someone they already know—a grandparent, aunt or uncle, adult sibling, family friend, neighbor or another trusted person.
And it matters.
Kinship care can help children hold onto something incredibly important during a time of enormous change: connection. Connection to people they know. To family. To culture. To community. To a sense of belonging.
About 2.5 million children in the U.S. are growing up in kinship families.
This , we celebrate the people who step up for children and recognize that those caregivers need community and support, too.❤️

Foster care is complicated and comes with many misconceptions.
Some are harmful.
Some are deeply unfair.
Some overlook what children have lived through.
And some are so common, we barely question them.
We’re calling out a few — because assumptions like these deserve to be challenged.
What misconception do you wish more people understood? 👇

“Even just this little, little thing is a lot for us.”
The “little thing” is a 30-minute Spanish lesson each week.
But for one two-year-old in foster care, it means so much more.
Her biological mom speaks only Spanish. Her caregivers wanted to give her early exposure to the language in hopes that hearing those familiar words might someday help visits with mom feel a little more comfortable. A little more connected. A little more like home.
When their funding request was denied elsewhere, Cobbled Streets said yes.
Because sometimes an experience isn’t just about learning a new skill.
Sometimes it’s really about building a bridge and protecting a connection.❤️

This summer has given us so many moments worth remembering.❤️
Kids found adventure and belonging at Camp Roots + Wings. Families filled the Denver Zoo with laughter at Night of Wonder. One young person turned a service project into 1,000+ opportunities to play. And throughout our community, remarkable leaders, advocates, and supporters gave us plenty to celebrate.
Our August newsletter is here, and it’s full of the stories behind those moments—the connections, generosity, and joy that keep reminding us what’s possible when a community shows up for children and families.

Still glowing. ✨
What an incredible Night of Wonder at the Denver Zoo. To every family, volunteer, face painter, resource partner, and friend who showed up with so much heart — even in the 100+-degree heat — thank you.
You made the night joyful, welcoming, unforgettable, and oh so special.
More photos and stories are coming soon, but for now we are just feeling so grateful for this beautiful community.❤️

One rider. One big heart. One powerful way to show up for kids and families.❤️
This weekend, Cobbled Streets friend and supporter David Resmo
will begin the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge — a long-distance endurance ride across North America.
Dave will ride roughly 11,000 miles over nearly 2 weeks, primarily on two-lane roads, sleeping outside next to his motorcycle, navigating by paper directions, and riding alongside nearly 200 riders taking on this incredible challenge. Just wow.😮
Dave is raising support for Cobbled Streets because he believes children in foster and kinship care should not have to carry hard seasons alone. His ride is a beautiful example of someone finding his own meaningful way to help carry part of that weight. We are so grateful for community members like Dave who find creative ways to stand with children and families!
You can follow Dave’s ride in real time at hokaheychallenge.com. Look for rider #1209 FATSO for live GPS tracking updates.
