Cooler weather can make longer walks feel inviting, but activity should increase gradually, especially for puppies, seniors, dogs with arthritis, and dogs returning after time off.

Watch for lagging behind, repeated stopping, limping, stiffness after rest, reluctance the next day, or changes in behavior.

Move & Sniff is about consistency, not pushing through discomfort.

Adapt each walk to the dog in front of you.

Does anyone else feel like fall suddenly changes everything?

Schedules get fuller, routines shift, and somehow we end up spending more time sitting in cars, offices, or at activities.

If your body is feeling it too, try getting back to the basics. Move a little, drink some water, get some sleep, and pay attention to the tension that keeps showing up.

What helps your body adjust when your routine changes?

Honestly, Move & Sniff came from the everyday walks I take with Archie and Tika.

We are not going far or breaking any speed records. One of them is usually sniffing the same patch of grass forever, and I am trying to get out of my own busy head. But those walks help us slow down and reconnect.

That is what I want this challenge to be. No mileage goals or pressure. Just 21 days of moving with your dog and having a community cheering you on.

Join us locally or virtually October 5 through October 25. Registration is $27, and $5 will support Foothills Animal Shelter.

I picked up these fun new Dog Wisdom cards because, honestly, dogs have so much figured out. 🐕

The card I pulled today was all about choice, and wow, did that feel relevant.
I’m choosing to pivot my coaching business and continuing to make choices that support the life and business I dream of, am actively building, and truly deserve.

Apparently, embodying my inner dog wisdom means trusting myself, following what feels aligned, and remembering to enjoy a snack along the way. 🍖❤🐾

What’s one choice you’re making for yourself right now?

So many of the people I meet are very good at taking care of everyone else. They keep working, keep showing up, and keep adjusting their lives around what hurts until their body finally makes being ignored impossible.

I understand the instinct to push through. I also believe you deserve support before you reach that point.

At Elevate Health Chiropractic, human care begins with a conversation. I want to understand what you are feeling, how it is affecting your real life, and what matters to you. There is no pressure to commit to a long plan. We simply start with where you are and decide together what feels supportive.

If your body has been asking for your attention, I would be honored to help.

What is your dog's tell?

Pet parents often say, ‘I cannot quite explain it, but something is different.’ I take that seriously.

You know your animal's normal better than anyone. You notice the pause before jumping into the car, the slower trip up the stairs, the change in how they settle, or the toy they suddenly stop bringing to you. Sometimes the first clue is not dramatic. It is simply a small change that does not feel like them.

Archie and Tika have their own very clear ways of telling me what they think, although neither of them is especially subtle about it.

What is your dog's tell when something feels off?

Share it below, and please include a photo if you want to make my day.

I have noticed how often people apologize when they tell me what is bothering them. They say it is probably nothing, they should be able to push through it, or they feel silly because the change seems small.

But our bodies often communicate in small ways before they demand our attention. Maybe turning your head while driving feels different. Maybe getting out of the car takes an extra moment. Maybe you have quietly changed a workout, stopped sleeping on one side, or started avoiding something you normally enjoy.

Noticing those changes does not mean assuming the worst. It means listening with curiosity instead of judging yourself for what you feel. In my human chiropractic practice, I want people to feel heard while we look at how their body is moving and what they want to get back to doing more comfortably.

What is one movement or activity your body has been asking you to pay attention to lately?

What if your daily dog walk became less of a task and more of a chance to reconnect?

That is the heart behind Move & Sniff, my 21 day dog walking challenge. It is not about distance or perfect consistency. It is about slowing down, getting outside, letting your dog explore, and enjoying more intentional time together.

Join us locally or virtually October 5 through October 25. Registration is $27, with $5 donated to Foothills Animal Shelter.

Let’s walk, sniff, and reconnect. 🐾
