Our last, (but certainly not least) Artist Spotlight goes out to the extremely talented Sheldon Draper! Sheldon is known around Wichita for his colorful, serendipitous paint strokes and did not disappoint when he joined the Get Ya Color On for the Somewhere Fest collab!

Sheldon Draper, (born in 1995), grew up in Wichita, Kansas. Draper specializes in mixed media techniques which have developed as a result of years of making art.

Draper is involved in the local arts scene. He has participated in various arts markets, done live art at shows for local bands, had various exhibitions in galleries around town, and has a few works on display in public art collections.

Sheldon’s mailboxes serve as interactive art prices as Somewhere Fest friends stopped by and left ‘Welcome Home’ notes to families who will be receiving a tiny home in our community in the near future!

Thanks for joining the team Draper!

“I’m a Wichita, Kansas artist inspired by graffiti, street art, bold lettering, and abstract creativity. I use spray paint and other mediums to bring my ideas to life, blending vibrant colors, wild styles, and my own artistic vision. My goal is to create art that stands out, represents where I come from, and gives people something unique to connect with.” — Slim Suber

Thanks again for joining the team Slim! You rocked the Neighborhood Mailbox Project! 💪🏾

When you pass the The Care Portal Mural at Somewhere Fest today, remember that it is so much more than just a mural. It was curated to stand as a gravitational point for Wichita as it challenges us to address deep needs in our own community as well as helps us challenge and identify solutions to meet those needs!

This project stands tall, as a pillar in our community and in my hearts as it was SUCH an honor to create this mural in collaboration with Stand Together ! It’s been such an exciting thing to conquer!

May it serve as a reminder that we can stand together, as a community, enjoy one another, sing and dance, and live as one!

Wishing everyone an amazing day at Somewhere Fest 2026! 🦕🎸🎶❤️

Saying this because it needs to be said:

Copying someone’s business, concept or idea is not a form of flattery.
Its lazy. It’s distasteful. It’s STEALING.

STOP TAKING from creatives.

In a world where everything can be ai generated- we pride ourselves in being hand drawn and original… but we see people steal our concepts, our artwork and cut us out of services that were originally supposed to be in a exclusive ‘partnerships’ with.

Unfortunately, they see the potential in what we do, but don’t want to really back our cause and don’t truly understand the passion behind it.

The solution is simple.
Generate your own concepts.
This city will NEVER grow IF EVERYONE insists on doing the same thing.

It’s so incredibly disrespectful and disappointing seeing ‘partners’ literally steal from you, right in front of your face just to make a few bucks.

Unfortunately, we have had to reconsider a good number of our partnerships due to this infringement. And we will not look back.

This is why talent leaves our city.
It’s impossible to pretend like we don’t see it anymore.

It’s sad.

This is just a reminder that anyone can generate a coloring sheet- This business is NOT that. Get Ya Color On is ran by a hard working mother, who uses her hands, mind and heart to create designs for companies, non profits and businesses across the COUNTRY.

Coming from an artist that is tired of being invited, but not accredited.

From a mother that has shown up often, but rarely only to met with lack of respect for her talent.

From a creative who has fought tooth and nail to protect her intellectual property.

Enough is enough.
I see you.
My REAL customers and partners see you, too!

If you notice that as business, we move different in the future- it’s not because there are hard feelings- it’s because I see your games- and I’m not interested in playing anymore.

If you see an artist and like what they do- respect them and reach out.

If you ask an artist to do something for you, give them credit where it’s due.

If you partner with someone, and they have respected you and your business, make sure you are doing the same.

Don’t be a vulture. Add to the culture.

That is all… that is the post.
