The mission of Doc’s Friends is to HONOR the men and women who sacrificed so much for the freedom of others, including those who designed, built, maintained and flew the B-29 during and after WWII. CONNECT people with the rich heritage of the B-29 and allow aviation enthusiasts to experience the thrill of a B-29 up close. EDUCATE today’s and future generations on the contributions of the Greatest Generation during wartime.

This is Mike Sparh. His father, Sgt. Joseph Sparh, was a B-29 radio operator during World War II and served as a trainer for the USAAC. Mike visited us Thursday in Wilmington and brought his father's B-29 horn button, which he wanted to donate to carry on his father's legacy. He's pictured here sitting in his father's seat on B-29 DOC.

This is Patty Hilko. Patty's father, Clarence Lewis, served as a B-29 mechanic on Okinawa during the Korean War. It was an honor to meet Patty and learn about her father's story, and to let her climb inside the airplane that her father worked on during his service time. 📷:
