Always Sunny is our hero

As many of you know, Flufflepuff has reached the end of our journey. While we are no longer able to take in rabbits, the need for rescue hasn’t disappeared.

One of the main organizations helping fill that need is Always Sunny Sanctuary and Rescue. Isis has opened her heart and home to rabbits from Wichita and beyond, including several from Flufflepuff.

Always Sunny is putting in the long hours, the veterinary appointments, the cleaning, the transportation, and the countless unseen moments that rescue requires.

Today I’m making a $75 donation to Always Sunny. I wish it could be more, but every dollar matters.

$5 may not seem like much on its own, but when a community comes together, those small gifts become hay, pellets, litter, medical care, and second chances.

Flufflepuff may be closing its doors, but our mission has always been bigger than one rescue. We can continue helping rabbits by supporting the people who are still out there doing this work every single day.

Yesterday marked the final spay/neuter surgery that Flufflepuff Rabbit Rescue will ever coordinate.

Pancakes was neutered and has already gone home with his forever family. Cypress was spayed and is now happily living with Taylor in her forever home.

This week, two more of our precious rabbits will be adopted. Next week, our friends at Always Sunny Sanctuary will be coming to Wichita to welcome Labubu and Luna into their care, where they will continue their journey toward loving forever homes.

As I reflect on this moment, my heart is overflowing with gratitude.

To every person who has adopted, fostered, donated, volunteered, shared our posts, or simply believed in our mission—thank you. Because of this community, so many rabbits were given a second chance.

I want to give a special thank you to Lorii, Taylor, Hope, and Stevie. Your love, dedication, and countless hours of hard work have meant more than I could ever express. You cared not only for the rabbits, but for me as well, and I will never forget that kindness.

Thank you to Kansas State University for helping us ensure our remaining rabbits received the medical care they needed before beginning their new lives.

And thank you to Hodes Veterinary Health Center, especially Dr. Jessica and the entire team. Your compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to our rabbits have carried us through some of our hardest moments. We are forever grateful.

This isn’t goodbye to the mission of rabbit welfare. It is simply the closing of one beautiful chapter. My hope is that Flufflepuff’s legacy will live on in every rabbit that found safety, every family that opened their hearts, and every person who learned a little more about these incredible animals.

Thank you for believing in Flufflepuff Rabbit Rescue.

I know I’m biased, but I truly think Labubu is one of the most beautiful rabbits I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.

People see “brown rabbit,” but if you really stop and look at her, she’s a masterpiece. Her agouti coat is painted with warm oranges, rich chestnuts, soft creams, smoky charcoal, and tiny black brushstrokes woven through every strand of fur. In the sunlight she glows bronze, and in the evening she looks like she stepped right out of the woods.

And then there are those ears, those huge curious eyes, and that little face that always seems to be deciding whether you’re worthy of her attention.

After everything she’s been through, seeing her healthy, bright, and reaching for heart-shaped treats fills my heart in a way I can’t quite put into words.

Labubu has spent months in quarantine through no fault of her own, and throughout it all she has remained exactly who she is: cautious, curious, intelligent, and absolutely perfect.

I have loved getting to know every inch of this little woodland queen.

Today, I just wanted to share how breathtaking she truly is as we celebrate the end of her quarantine.🍂🐇✨

The truth is, we’re not really supposed to talk about ourselves much in rescue work. The focus should always be on the animals. But after losing Viggo, I think people deserve honesty too.

His passing hit me incredibly hard. We truly believed he was saveable. We were so close to the end of this journey with him, and every day we kept seeing little signs of progress. Endless vet visits, laser therapy, bandage changes, medications, sleepless nights, hope, time, money, love… and then suddenly he was just gone.

I am devastated.

I think part of why this loss hurt so deeply is because grief never really exists by itself. Sometimes one loss opens the door to older ones you never fully healed from. Losing animals so often has a way of tying itself to every other heartbreak you carry. I know now there are still parts of my mother’s passing I haven’t fully worked through either.

And honestly, this is another reason closing Flufflepuff is the right decision.

People think rescue is just cute bunnies and happy endings, but sometimes it’s carrying loss after loss and somehow still getting up the next morning to keep going. I’m realizing I may not be strong enough to keep surviving these hits forever, and I think it’s okay to admit that.

Right now we only have 3 rescue rabbits left here.

Two already have a home lined up together, which makes me incredibly happy. And then there’s Labubu. She was bitten by a skunk months ago and has been in strict quarantine ever since. On the 13th next month, she will finally be free from quarantine and officially ready to start looking for her forever home.

I would really love to see her get the happy ending she deserves.

Thank you to everyone who has stood beside us through the beautiful moments and the heartbreaking ones too. Flufflepuff may be nearing the end of its story, but these rabbits mattered. Every single one mattered.

It’s taken me a little while to find the words for this one.

Sweet Viggo passed away.

From the moment he arrived at Flufflepuff, we knew we were dealing with something incredibly serious and complicated.

Viggo had suffered a traumatic injury before coming to us, leaving him with severe nerve damage and self-mutilation behaviors that were heartbreaking to witness.

Despite intensive treatment, regular veterinary care, laser therapy, bandage changes, medications, protective measures, and constant monitoring, his little body continued to struggle.

We fought very hard for him alongside our veterinary team. There were moments where things seemed hopeful. We celebrated every small victory — eating on his own, resting comfortably, using his litter box, healing tissue finally returning. We truly believed he deserved every chance we could give him.

But sometimes love means recognizing when a body cannot heal the way we wish it could.

When his condition worsened and it became clear he was suffering, the decision was made to let him go peacefully and with dignity.

Viggo was deeply loved here. He was never alone, never discarded, and never treated like he was “too much work.” He mattered immensely to us, and losing him has been devastating.

Thank you to everyone who cared about him, rooted for him, sent kind messages, prayed, donated, or simply followed his journey. Please keep our hearts in your thoughts while we grieve this little rabbit.

Viggo went back to the vet today for more bandage changes and laser therapy.

His foot still has a long road ahead, but we wanted to give everyone an honest update.

There is no more exposed bone, which is a huge victory, and we are incredibly grateful for that progress. The tissue is slowly healing and building back, but he is not fully healed yet and still needs continued care, close monitoring, and regular veterinary visits.

This sweet boy has been through so much already, but he continues to fight every single day. We are proud of him. Truly. 💚

Monday is also going to be a huge day here at Flufflepuff.

Pancakes, Luna, Buttons, and Cypress are all scheduled for their spay/neuter surgeries.

Taylor and I are tackling this mission together, and while it will be busy and exhausting, it is also the kind of progress we have worked so hard toward. Every surgery means a healthier future, better lives, and one more step toward stability and forever homes.

There is so much good happening here right now, even in the middle of difficult moments. Healing. Growth. New beginnings.

There are some people you can never fully thank… but we’re going to try. 🤍

Today we want to take a moment to recognize our most steadfast volunteers—Hope Duncan, Stevie,Lorii Lovern, and Taylor Hannahs

Hope has been with us since the early days. Not the very first, but part of that original foundation that helped build Flufflepuff into what it became. She has stood beside us through moments that feel impossible to even put into words, some of the highest highs, and some of the lowest lows.

When my mom passed away, Hope came over and quietly cleaned so we could focus on family.

When things got complicated, painful, and even unstable behind the scenes, she was there—present, steady, and unwavering.

She didn’t just help the rescue… she helped hold it together.

And Stevie… there truly aren’t enough words.

Night after night, without fail, he was there—changing water bowls, feeding bunnies, sitting with them, playing with them, loving them. On the long days, the hard days, the days where everything felt like too much—Stevie stepped in and carried weight that most people would never even see.

He didn’t just help… he showed up, over and over again.

Together, Hope and Stevie helped pick up the pieces during some of our hardest chapters and helped rebuild Flufflepuff into something stronger, safer, and more grounded.

Soon after, Lorii and Taylor came in during a time when we were at our lowest. They saw our hearts, they saw the rabbits, and they chose to stay. They gave everything they had, and together, we became a true team. We’ve done events, rescues, long days, hard nights and we thrived because of them.

I have always done my best to be open and honest, I live with mental illness.

It’s easy for people to say they support that—until they actually see it. Until it’s messy, overwhelming, real.

A lot of people walk away.

Hope didn’t.
Stevie didn’t.
Lorii didn’t.
Taylor didn’t.

They stayed through the good, the bad, the tears, the frustration, and the victories. They stayed when it wasn’t easy. They stayed when it mattered most.

Flufflepuff Rabbit Rescue would not have existed—or survived—without our volunteers.
