Promoting the quality of life created by the Kansas oil and natural gas industry.

Founded in 2006, the KOGRF is a non-governmental organization with the purpose of educating Kansans on the vital role the industry plays in advancing our state and sustaining our nation’s energy supply. As the need for viable domestic resources continues to grow, we are proud to represent the oil and natural gas producers of Kansas and the energy solutions they provide for our country.

Have you ever wondered how natural gas heats our homes?

A discovery that changed Kansas energy history.

In 1922, the Boles #1 well in Seward County became the first well to tap into the Hugoton Natural Gas Field. The well had originally been drilled for oil in 1919, but after sitting untouched, drillers discovered that natural gas was the real find.

At the time, demand for natural gas was limited. But that discovery marked the beginning of development in what would become one of the largest natural gas fields in the United States.

We’re at the Kansas State Fair! 💙💛

Come see us in the Pride of Kansas Building through Sunday and learn more about Kansas oil and natural gas and the important role our industry plays in our state.

A HUGE thank you to all of our industry volunteers who have given their time to make the fair possible! We couldn’t do it without you! 💙

And if you’ve volunteered at the fair, share your photos in the comments! We’d love to see them and celebrate all of the folks who have helped make this a great week!

And don’t forget — Oil Field Celebration is coming up in Pratt on October 9th! We’re looking forward to celebrating our Kansas oil and gas industry there, too! For more details contact Cynthia @ [email protected]
