We are saddened to share the passing of James “Jim” Moore, who served as Executive Director of Wichita Foundation for 17 years before retiring in 2009.

Jim’s leadership helped shape Wichita Foundation and its work in our community. His legacy continues through the James D. Moore Scholarship Fund, established upon his retirement to support graduating high school students who are the first generation in their family to attend college and who participated in track & field and/or cross country.

We are grateful for Jim’s many years of service to Wichita Foundation and the lasting impact he made on our organization and community.

WF is saying goodbye to a very special member of our team, Raisin, our Senior Vice Pawsident. 🐾

For more than nine years, Raisin was a beloved companion and constant presence in the life of James. He also brought plenty of personality to his honorary role at WF and earned a special place in our Foundation family.

Our hearts are with James as he says goodbye to his best friend and constant companion.

Rest easy, Raisin. You will be deeply missed. 🤍

As our Director of Community Impact, James plays an important role in connecting donors, nonprofits and community partners to create meaningful change across Wichita. Since joining WF in 2014, he has helped lead grants and initiatives that strengthen nonprofits and enhance lives throughout our community.

James brings a deep knowledge of Wichita’s nonprofit landscape, a passion for bringing people together and, of course, plenty of humor to our team.

We are grateful for the impact James has made over the past 12 years and for all he continues to bring to WF and our community. Happy anniversary, James! 💛

🎉 Last week, Meghan and Jessica joined our summer intern, Jackie, at the Greater Wichita YMCA Job Prep Graduation Celebration to celebrate her and this exciting milestone!

Jackie was such a wonderful addition to the Wichita Foundation team this summer. We’re grateful for the energy, curiosity and joy she brought to our office, and we loved getting to be part of her Job Prep experience.

While we’re sad to see her go, we’re excited to see what’s ahead. Congratulations, Jackie! We’re cheering you on as you head into the new school year. 💛

We’re thrilled to welcome Dave Sotelo, our new Director of Strategy and Impact Investing, to the Wichita Foundation team! 👋

Dave brings experience in strategic planning, economic development, housing, public engagement and cross-sector collaboration. He has also served on the boards of the Hutch Chamber, United Way of Reno County, Horizons Mental Health Center and Kansas Appleseed.

Outside of work, Dave enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and spending time with his wife, Maddy. We’re glad to have you with us, Dave!

We're here to help everyone get ready to go back to school! Join us Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Alford Library Branch, 3447 S. Meridian, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Talk with people from local agencies serving the youngest learners to those ready to work on their GED, pursue advanced degrees, and more!
