And just like that, the Leadership Barrow Class of 2026 is graduated🧡 The last ten months have been nothing short of extraordinary. From the ordinary moments spent touring and learning about the incredible businesses who call Barrow home to the more extreme behind-the-scenes times like when the class was accidentally pepper balled, the overarching consensus was an overwhelming appreciation for the community.
The Class of 2026 actively aided four different non-profits in revitalizing their spaces, volunteered at multiple food distributions, and delved deeper into local government by attending city council meetings. It was through not only our monthly sessions but these extras where bonds grew stronger and a sense of pride was forged. As we go forth, each graduate moves beyond the Leadership Barrow program with a greater understanding of our County and the citizens we serve!
To Piedmont Athens and all of the other businesses who help make this program possible, we cannot thank you enough for your continued support!

Community impact is a core foundation of the Leadership Barrow program! Each class discusses where the need is greatest and carefully decides how they can best utilize their shared resources. After visiting The Tree House during Non-Profit Day back in October, it was clear how important the work they do in our community is! It was an honor and a pleasure to help get them more visible signage they desperately needed and deserved. Additionally, all remaining funds from the Class of 2026's Impact Project fundraiser will go towards helping the Tree House replenish supplies after a 2025 storm impacted their facility!
We’re incredibly grateful to officially unveil the new sign at The Tree House! 💚🌳
The Tree House Board Members want to extend a sincere thank you to Leadership Barrow Class of 2026, for believing in our mission and helping us continue Building Families. Rebuilding Lives.
The new sign not only helps welcome visitors to our campus, but also stands as a symbol of hope, healing, and the power of community partnerships.

It is always a really special day when our Adult Leadership Barrow class has the opportunity to show off their industry to our Youth Leadership Barrow students🧡 During Wednesday’s Industry Day, our young leaders had the opportunity to visit a wide variety of careers with stops at Stepan (a chemical plant), Akins Ford (our local car dealership who happens to be the #1 Ford dealer in the world), and our Georgia National Guard base here in Barrow County! From donning hard hats as they learned the importance of chemicals in our modern world to sitting in a helicopter used in real life missions, there was so much to explore.
Special thank you to the following Adult Leadership Barrow champions who helped make this day possible:
Heath Davis, Class of 2025
Miranda Deaton, Class of 2023
Chase Harris, Class of 2026
Lydia Huff, Class of 2025
Tywanda Jackson, Class of 2020
Tanner Maloof, Class of 2024
Clay McElhannon, Class of 2024
Will Schroth, Class of 2026

What an honor it was for our Class of 2026 to be able to spend a day within Barrow County Schools for a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what our future leaders are learning. From 9th grade algebra to 6th grade anatomy to hula hooping in gym, our leaders are so grateful for the faculty, staff, and students who bring life into our school system!
