Finding project photos should not require a digital archaeological expedition.

Give them one shared home, organize them by project and date, and use filenames that will still mean something six months from now. Then back everything up somewhere equally intentional.

“Misc.” is not a category. It is where context goes to retire.

Our setup while we wait for Blackstone Watershed Collab to turn from the river straight across this field of view as they make their way out of the water.

Just past this spot is a large dam they have to portage past. Bringing attention to the Blackstone and the dams throughout it are part of the reason why this paddle is happening. Find out more on their website - blackstonecollaborative.org.

Once work begins, "existing conditions" become "conditions we really wish someone had photographed."

Take a wide shot. Capture a few details. Record where you were standing so the angle can be repeated later. You may not know which part will become important, but future-you will be relieved that present-you understood the basic passage of time.

I'm constantly in awe of how beautiful New England is and still can't believe that part of my job gets me out to hike these amazing spots and explore more of my amazing home.
