The City of Boston Mayor's Commission for Persons with Disabilities is inviting the public to their upcoming event: Civic Engagement for People with Disabilities: A Virtual Information Session | Boston.gov on Wednesday, September 30th, from 6:00- 7:30pm on Zoom. This event will be held completely online and take place during evening hours. All of the public is invited - people with disabilities, professionals in the field, families, friends, allies, and others are all welcome to attend and participate. This event provides members of the public opportunity to connect directly with City of Boston leaders and gives participants a chance to learn about:
-Registering to vote
-Accessible voting options
-Participating in City Council hearings and meetings
-Participating in other City public meetings
-Participatory budgeting

On Saturday, September 19, at 3:00 we welcome author and former Yankee Magazine editor, Mel Allen, who will present on his book "Here in New England: Unforgettable stories of people, places, and memories that connect us all." From his first stories in Yankee in 1979 to the day he retired in 2025, his work both as editor and author has captured New England's unique sense of place and the people who call it home.

This program will be held in the Saxe Room at Worcester Public Library. It is free and open to all. Registration is not required. Books will be available for sale and signing by the author.

Join us on Wednesday, September 16, at 10:00am at the Worcester Senior Center for "A Morning with Walt Whitman: a Theatrical Performance by actor Stephen Collins".

Shakespearean actor Stephen Collins portrays Walt Whitman in this award-winning one-man show. Through poetry and readings of actual letters you will experience Whitman's movement from selfishness to selflessness and his growth into a mature artist.

Co-sponsored by the Worcester Talking Book Library and the Worcester Senior Center, it will take place at the Senior Center, 128 Providence Street. Register by calling 508-799-1232.

Join us this Saturday, August 29, at 2:00PM for an audio described* screening of "Good Fortune" starring Aziz Ansari, Seth Rogan, and Keanu Reeves. Snacks provided. Run time is 97 minutes. Movie will be held in the Computer Lab on the first floor of Worcester Public Library. No registration.

Audio description allows blind and visually impaired viewers to enjoy the film through narration of visual elements.

EyeAudioRadio is promoting the inaugural Eye Health Awareness Night at the WooSox game at Polar Park, Thursday, August 13, 2026. Our theme: "Take Me Out to the Ballgame!" We hope to draw a record crowd for our first event, and invite folks to generously donate tickets to blind and visually impaired individuals who may not be able to afford to buy a ticket.
Please spread the word and join us as we recognize eye care professionals and supporters, caregivers and volunteers.
We will have the 2025 International Optician of the Year throwing out a celebratory first pitch, and we hope to have a parade of members from Gate A to the third-base concourse area before the game. The game, like all WooSox games, is audio-described on EyeAudioRadio.org.
