Across Central Massachusetts, charitable foundations and fundraisers are doing important work that brings people together, strengthens our community, and supports causes that make a lasting impact. From the Foundation to Worcester Bravehearts Baseball, Make-A-Wish America, Worcester State University Foundation, and the Wachusett Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. Scholarship Scramble, these organizations are helping create meaningful change for individuals, students, and families across our region.

Over the last month and more, Bay State Bank has been grateful for the chance to support these efforts and stand alongside so many community-minded partners.

Today we recognize NAHREP Central Massachusetts and their commitment to advancing sustainable Hispanic homeownership through education, advocacy, and community empowerment across Worcester and the region.

Their work continues to create opportunity, strengthen partnerships, and invest in the future of our community.

We also celebrate our own Evelyn Toney on being installed as the 2026 President of NAHREP Central Massachusetts. Evelyn’s leadership, heart for people, and commitment to community make a meaningful impact every day, and we are grateful to have her as part of the Bay State Bank team.

Congratulations, Evelyn, and thank you to NAHREP Central Massachusetts for the important work you do to help our communities thrive.

As the school year comes to a close, we love that we get to celebrate the Worcester Public Schools graduating students who received the Bay State Bank Scholarship Award. Your hard work, determination, and commitment to your future are truly inspiring.

We love that we get to support the next generation of leaders and celebrate all that you’ve accomplished. Wishing you continued success in all that’s ahead.

It was meaningful last week to celebrate 11 years of Cafe Reyes, a space that has become so much more than a café for the Worcester community. Through Cafe Reyes and Hector Reyes House, lives are being changed by creating opportunities, fostering connections, and supporting individuals on their path forward.

Thank you to Dr. Matilde (Mattie) Castiel and her family for continuing to bring Hector’s vision to life and for the lasting impact you are making every day.

At Bay State Bank, we believe in the people and organizations strengthening our community...and the work happening here is a powerful example of that in action.

🇺🇸 As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

This week, our team partnered with the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, alongside veterans organizations, community groups, and local businesses, for the annual flag placement at Saint John’s Cemetery in Worcester.

Together with more than 180 volunteers, over 5,000 American flags were placed to honor veterans laid to rest there. Each flag serves as a reminder that freedom comes at a cost and that remembrance matters.

We are grateful to stand alongside our community in honoring those who served and gave everything.

The energy at this year’s Woostapreneurs Forum at Holy Cross was all about people…innovators sharing their stories, entrepreneurs building something from the ground up, and local business leaders showing what’s possible right here in Greater Worcester.

From seasoned founders to those just getting started, the room was filled with ideas, collaboration, and a shared drive to grow and strengthen our community. Events like this remind us that behind every business is a person with a vision, and we are grateful to be part of the network ready to support it.

Finally, we would like to spotlight Pernet Family Health Service.

For 70 years, Pernet has been a trusted part of the Greater Worcester community, serving more than 12,500 people across the region. Inspired by the mission of the Little Sisters of the Assumption, Pernet began with a commitment to supporting families living in poverty and continues that work today through quality childcare, early intervention, and maternal and child nursing care.

We believe in organizations like Pernet that make Greater Worcester stronger every day.

We’re excited to spotlight Inc of Worcester.

For more than 100 years, Girls Inc. has been inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold through research-based programs and a supportive, girl-centered environment. As the oldest and only facility-based organization of its kind in Central Massachusetts, Girls Inc. serves more than 1,000 girls across Greater Worcester with experiences that build confidence and open doors.

Their programs focus on STEM, leadership, financial literacy, and health, giving girls the tools to overcome barriers and envision brighter futures.

We believe in organizations like Girls Inc. that are creating opportunities and empowering young women in our community.

As we continue our four-part series highlighting the nonprofits featured in our Community Giving initiative, we’re turning to Friendly House, MA.

When we think about organizations that truly show up for Worcester families, Friendly House is one that stands out. For more than 100 years, they have been a steady source of support through programs that strengthen families, support youth, and help neighbors meet urgent needs.

From after-school and summer programming to shelter, food pantries, and social services, Friendly House meets people where they are with care and compassion. More than 25,000 residents received assistance from Friendly House in the past year, reflecting the depth of their impact across the city.

We believe in organizations like Friendly House that help build stability, opportunity, and hope for the future.
