I get TONS of questions about succession sowing in a veggie garden.

How do I know when my onions are ready to harvest?
What can I put in that will even have enough time to grow?
What about the whole soil health thing?

Well, here is a very simple guide to succession sowing and crop rotation.

Legume ➡️ Leafy ➡️ Fruit ➡️ Root, aka...
🫛 ➡️ 🥬 ➡️ 🍆 ➡️ 🥕

The idea is that the crops are rotating in a way that the one before either gives the soil something the next one needs or replenishes the soil from the previous one's growth. Both will be true when you're in the groove!

So, your garlic has been harvested, and your bed is looking bare.
Recharge the soil with some snap peas - fast-growing nitrogen fixers will beef up soil health for next season. Garlic is also giving a lot of goodness to the soil, so you could follow it with a carrot, radish or leafy green!

While we're at it, don't forget to prune your tomatoes and keep an eye out for squash vine borer!

Over the winter, we began working with BSC and the City of Worcester's Department of Sustainability and Resilience on EIGHT rain gardens throughout the city!

This has been a really exciting project - through the analysis and design phases, we finally reached the start of installation. We kicked it off with a great community planting, with Worcester Tech High School helping us infill plant at Shore Park.

Can I convince you to become a podcast listener?

I've been listening to a ton of Diary of a CEO lately. I've been sprinkling in a bit of On Purpose, and I religiously listen to Good Hang for my Tuesday AM laughs.
.. If you are a podcast listener, and you don't know those, you should probably check them out - you'll probably find something that changes your life.

One of my favorite things about podcasts is being able to learn while I do whatever I'm doing ... weeding, digging, chores, driving. You name the monotonous task, and I'll have a podcast to make it feel like an opportunity.

My other favorite thing about podcasts is that they give you something new and interesting to talk about. Sending a podcast to a friend on a subject that interests you both, or that you found entertaining, is a great way to engage consciously with what you're consuming and sharing.

It's easy to throw on a reality show in the background while you're cooking dinner, or perhaps your go to is the news...
