"I’m incredibly thankful for everything Worcester State gave me. It opened doors that changed the course of my life.

As a commuter student, I didn’t always have the chance to experience everything campus life had to offer. That’s why my family and I created a scholarship for North High graduates attending Worcester State—to help remove some of the financial barriers so students can spend less time worrying and more time growing, connecting, and making the most of their college experience.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve also had the privilege of personally mentoring Worcester State students through internships at Fairway Home Mortgage. Seeing students discover their confidence, gain real-world experience, and realize what’s possible has been one of the greatest rewards of my career.

I’ve always believed that gratitude is best expressed through action. If our scholarship or an internship helps even one student find their path, then that’s the best way I know to say thank you to Worcester State."

Congratulations to Worcester State grad and Alumni Association Advisory Board member Jacob Labonte, class of '22, for receiving the 2026 Alzheimer Award from the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease (JAD)!

Out of 800 papers published in the 2025 volume, the journal’s Editorial Board selected his team's groundbreaking study: "S*x differences on tau, astrocytic, and neurodegenerative plasma biomarkers." This incredible achievement marks Jacob’s very first publication as first author!
