Many of our faculty, staff, and scholars have been impacted by su***de in some way. Our local CAPES Lived Experience Advisory Board members are also leading in more ways than one and Jenni Glynn has raised the most funds so far ($750!). Thank you Jenni and looking forward to seeing everyone who can walk with us in person this upcoming Saturday September 26th. Registration starts at 9 AM, and the walk starts at 10:30 AM.

Today is ! Join us in raising awareness of the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline and reminding people that support is available. You can call or text 988 to receive support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The person you talk to will be trained to help people who are in crisis, especially people who are having suicidal thoughts. You can also call when youโ€™re not in a crisis, but still want support.

CAPES has gathered many resources, including national crisis lifelines, on our website in the "How to Get Help for Myself" page here: https://www.umassmed.edu/capes/looking-for-help/looking-for-help-for-myself/

A recent study also linked 988 services to decreases in su***de mortality among young people. See below for the full reference.
