Comprised of the ever-changing, “permanent” PopUp and the intimate BrickBox Theater, the JMAC (pronounced JAY-mack) is downtown Worcester, MA’s home for arts, culture and creativity. The PopUp offers a place for local artists, organizations, and creatives to develop a variety of events ranging from art shows and open mics to yoga classes and lessons in drag. Thanks to the JMAC’s incredible funders, use of the PopUp is fully subsidized, and events are offered free and open to the public. The BrickBox Theater is a new performance venue where professional artists are empowered to have their music, dance, films, plays, installations, cabarets, and other performance events presented to audiences eager for a wide range of creative experiences. The flexible space seats up to audience members, and comes fully loaded with state-of-the art equipment. Support spaces include three dressing rooms, a palatial green room, wardrobe facilities, and a spacious rehearsal hall. As initiatives of the Worcester Cultural Coalition, the PopUp and the BrickBox are dedicated to cultural equity, community engagement, collaborative co-working, and creative entrepreneurship. The BrickBox is operated in partnership with The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts.
