A young, all black cat escaped from a Good Samaritan's car while in our parking lot. The cat was last seen crossing Holden Street and heading towards Dogwood Road and Brookhaven Road. The cat is reportedly friendly but is scared and unfamiliar with the neighborhood. Please let us know if the cat is seen or contained somewhere! Our staff will be able to assist in catching the cat and getting it to safety.

Hi friends. ❤️

I just wanted to say thank you for all the sweet notes that have been left for me around my room. Every single one gives me hope that someone will read them and realize that I truly am worthy of a chance.

I know I'm shy.

I know I don't come out to greet you when you walk into my room.

I know I hide in my favorite corner under my cat tree.

I've been through a lot, and I'm still learning that people can be kind.

Every day I'm discovering that my room gets cleaned, I get two delicious meals, and there are fun toys waiting for me. If you sit quietly with me, I might even try to catch the wand toy you're swinging around. I guess they call those baby steps.

But I'm anything but a baby.

I'm a 5-year-old guy who's simply looking for a quiet, understanding home. I seem to enjoy the company of other cats, so I might even like having a feline friend someday.

Now... you'll never believe what happened.
For the first time ever in WARL white board history... it was me.

Me. Hurricane.

The famous white board that has helped so many dogs find their forever homes now has my name on it.

The humans looked at me and said, "You know what, Hurricane? You deserve this spot."
Look at the board they made for me. That's me. That's my name.

Maybe... just maybe... I'll be famous too.
I don't expect there to be a line waiting at the door for me today. Today is a walk-in adoption day from 12:00-4:00 PM.

But maybe I don't need a line.

Maybe all I need is one person.

One person who can see me exactly as I am today and understand that I'll meet them halfway once I've had time to decompress through yet another big change in my little life.
If you come to visit me today, please don't be offended if I stay tucked safely under my cat tree. That's my comfort zone. It makes me feel safe.

I'd enjoy you sitting quietly and talking to me far more than trying to pet me right away. Sometimes the greatest kindness is simply letting someone know you're there.

Deep breath...

Let's see how the world feels about little ol' me on the white board today.

Meet Hurricane. Our pet of the week 🖤🐈‍⬛

Hurricane is 5 years old and was rescued by a dedicated local cat rescue after surviving on his own outside. He’s cautious, but incredibly curious.

Most days, you’ll find him tucked safely beneath the cat tree in his room. But when the shelter quiets down, his curiosity gets the best of him. He’ll slowly peek out… especially to see who his neighbor is next door. It’s honestly one of the sweetest things to watch. He thinks no one is looking as he peeks through the tiny gap in the divider wall. ❤️

This week, Hurricane is our Deserving Pet of the Week because he’s the one who needs your attention the most.

I had to put my thinking cap on for this one.

Who remembers Ziggy? Our previous Pet of the Week, Ms. Ziggy, has officially been settling into her new home for the past few weeks, and she’s living her very best life! 🏡🐾

From the moment Ziggy arrived, we couldn’t help but admire what a gentle, sweet soul she was. She had a heart of gold and was truly one of those dogs you just knew was a catch. It was only a matter of time before the right family found her.

Happy life, sweet Ziggy! We are so incredibly happy for you and wish you many years of love, adventures, belly rubs, and happiness. ❤️
