Meet Calabash 💚

We’re actively raising funds for an urgent rescue mission in Dominica, where dogs have faced unimaginable hardships including poisoning attempts, being hit by cars, abuse, neglect, and other cruelty.

Today, we’d like to introduce you to one of the 18 dogs we’re committed to saving.Meet 6-year-old Calabash.

Looking at these photos, it’s hard to imagine that this sweet girl has spent her life surviving on the streets and waiting in a shelter for a chance at something more.

Calabash embodies the Badass spirit perfectly.

We don’t know exactly what she’s been through, but we do know this: she’s happy. She loves people. She loves other dogs. She walks beautifully on leash. She’s the kind of dog who is more than ready for a home of her own.

Now we need to help her get there.

We’re in the final days of our campaign and still working toward our $20,000 fundraising goal to provide veterinary care, medical treatment, transportation, and supplies for Calabash and 17 other deserving dogs.

Not every dog arrives with a dramatic story. Sometimes, what breaks your heart most is how easy it would be to imagine them in a home.

At just 2 years old and 25 pounds, Zandoli is the kind of dog who quietly sneaks her way into your heart. When we met her in Dominica, there wasn’t even space for her at the shelter. Instead, she was living at the veterinary school, one of many dogs being cared for wherever room could be found.

Despite the uncertainty of her circumstances, Zandoli remained sweet, curious, and full of gentle optimism.

She walked beautifully on leash, happily stopping to sniff her surroundings and take in the world around her. While she was a little shy at first, she quickly warmed up and made it clear that she enjoys being close to her people.

In fact, one of her favorite places during our photoshoot was curled up next to one our rescue team members, soaking up affection and enjoying a quiet cuddle.

She’s also wonderful with other dogs, making her the type of companion who could fit seamlessly into many different homes. The truth is, we don’t know much about Zandoli’s life before she arrived at the shelter. But we do know what her future should look like:

• A soft bed.
• Daily walks.
• A family to call her own.
• A life beyond a kennel.

Meet Champagne Reef 💚

This sweet 2-year-old girl is calm, friendly, and easy to love. At 35 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion, happy to simply be near her people and take in the world around her.

The truth is, we don’t know much about Champagne Reef’s past.

We don’t know where she came from.
We don’t know how she ended up at the shelter.
We don’t know what she’s endured.
What we do know is that she deserves more than a kennel.

She deserves morning walks. A cozy bed. A family to come home to. The simple joys that every dog should get to experience.

During our time in Dominica, we met countless dogs like Champagne Reef: gentle, loving dogs who would thrive in homes if only they were given the chance.

Unfortunately, adoption opportunities on the island are extremely limited, leaving many wonderful dogs waiting years for a future that may never come.

That’s why Badass Animal Rescue has committed to saving 18 dogs from Dominica, including Champagne Reef.

Now we need your help to make that possible.

Meet Sisserou Parrot 💚 Sometimes, we know exactly what a dog has been through. Sometimes, we don’t.

We don’t know where Sisserou Parrot came from. We don’t know how she ended up at the shelter. We don’t know what her life looked like before she arrived.

What we do know is that she deserves so much more.
At just 20 pounds, Sisserou Parrot is the kind of dog that rescues dream about finding. She’s calm. Sweet. Walks beautifully on leash. Easy to be around. Incredibly adoptable.
The type of dog who should already have a family.

And yet, here she sits. Waiting.

During our time in Dominica, we met so many dogs like Sisserou Parrot. Good dogs. Wonderful dogs. Dogs who have done absolutely nothing wrong but were simply born in a place where adoption opportunities are extremely limited.
It’s heartbreaking because we wish we could save them all.

But we can’t.

This time, Badass Animal Rescue has committed to saving 18 dogs from Dominica, and Sisserou Parrot is one of them.
