DIGITAL LOGISTICS UPDATE | FROM DIGITALIZATION TO DIGITAL TRUST

The logistics industry is moving rapidly toward digital operations — but going paperless is only part of the transformation.
At a recent logistics legal management conference in Ho Chi Minh City, industry experts highlighted a growing challenge: many logistics transactions are currently operating in a hybrid environment, where digital data and traditional paper documents continue to exist side by side.
A single shipment may involve:
• Paper contracts
• Emails and electronic documents
• Digital transport orders
• Data from logistics management systems
• Electronic invoices and delivery orders
The key question is therefore no longer simply “Has the process been digitalized?”
The bigger issue is whether businesses can ensure the authenticity, integrity, traceability and legal validity of digital information throughout the logistics process.
Vietnam's logistics sector is continuing its transition toward greater digitalization, with electronic warehouse management, e-port systems, electronic delivery orders, cashless payments and automated customs monitoring already being implemented across different areas of the industry. However, connectivity between shippers, forwarders, carriers, warehouses, ports and authorities remains an important challenge.
ACT INSIGHT
Digital transformation in logistics is not simply about replacing paper with software.
A truly digital supply chain requires connected data, transparent processes and trust between every participant.
For freight forwarders, this means improving shipment visibility, document management and information accuracy while ensuring customers can track and control their cargo more effectively.
As international trade becomes increasingly digital, building reliable and connected logistics processes will be an important foundation for more efficient global supply chains.

GLOBAL OCEAN FREIGHT UPDATE | CONTAINERSHIP CAPACITY CONTINUES TO EXPAND

The global container shipping market is entering a new phase of capacity expansion.
According to recent industry data, approximately 13.1 million TEUs of containership capacity are currently on order, equivalent to nearly 40% of the existing global fleet.

*Key figures:
- Global operating fleet: ~33.8 million TEUs
- Current orderbook: ~13.1 million TEUs
- Orderbook-to-fleet ratio: ~38.7%
- Expected container trade growth in 2026: ~3–4%
- Expected fleet growth in 2026: ~4.2%

So, what could this mean for shippers?
As new vessels gradually enter service, additional capacity could create more competition among carriers and put pressure on ocean freight rates.

However, freight rates will not depend on vessel supply alone. Port congestion, blank sailings, geopolitical disruptions, network adjustments and longer routing caused by the Red Sea situation may continue to affect actual market capacity.

ACT Insight:
For importers and exporters, monitoring freight rates alone is no longer enough. Sailing schedules, capacity availability, routing and market disruptions should also be considered when planning shipments.
ACT Logistics continues to monitor the global freight market to help customers find suitable and efficient transportation solutions.
