Last night we attended the welcome reception for the United States Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, His Excellency Jared Novelly at the US Embassy Residence in Vailima.

The reception brought together members of the diplomatic corps, government representatives, business leaders and members of Samoa's wider community, reflecting the important role these gatherings play in strengthening relationships beyond official meetings.

As Samoa continues to welcome visitors, leaders and partners from around the world, occasions such as these remind us that our islands are not only a place of natural beauty, but also a meeting place of cultures, ideas and enduring friendships.

In his address, Ambassador Novelly spoke of the importance of listening, trust and genuine partnership.

"The relationship between the United States and Samoa is built on the friendship between our peoples, on mutual respect, and on a shared commitment to a free, open, secure and prosperous Pacific. Our partnership has grown because we listen to one another, speak honestly and work together to solve common challenges."

He also shared his enthusiasm for experiencing Samoa beyond the capital, saying he looks forward to visiting communities across Upolu and Savai'i, meeting people from every walk of life and embracing Samoan hospitality, joking that he has been told the best way to experience Samoa is to accept every invitation to share a meal.

At Samoa Lifestyle, we like to think of beach fales as 5 billion-star accommodation. The open design connects you completely to nature - from the rhythm of the ocean and the cooling sea breeze to the endless stars above. You’re not just staying by the beach; you’re living in it.

Our latest beach fale spotlight takes us to Lauiula Beach Club in Lano, Savai’i. Reopened and refreshed in 2025, Lauiula offers a different kind of luxury, one that celebrates simplicity, connection and the timeless beauty of Samoa’s coastline.
