It’s the final day of the UCI Road World Championships.
After a week of racing in Montréal, Canada and 12 World Championship titles already awarded, there is just one remaining - the Elite Men’s Road Race. Byron Munton is the sole South African among the 192 riders in the peloton racing for the coveted rainbow stripes of the World Champions jersey!
Getting wheels rolling at 9:00(15:00 RSA) today, the peloton will be covering 273,7km starting in Brossard and finishing at Parc Jeanne-Mance. The race winds through the Montérégie region before heading toward the heart of Montréal and entering a demanding 12 laps of the 13,4km circuit on Mont Royal where majority of the 3803m of elevation will be climbed mainly contributed by the punishing Camillien-Houde climb(1,7km at 7,7%).
The race is broadcasted live on Supersport Channel 206. It is also streamed on Tiz Cycling:

The 2026 UCI Road World Championships gets rolling with the Elite Individual Time Trial.
Montréal, Canada hosts the 99th edition of the Championships and for the second time having hosted in 1974 - the first time the Championships were held outside of Europe. The event is running from 20 - 27 September which will see 1,000 riders from 100 nations competing for 13 World Championship titles.
Byron Munton will once again be pulling on the Green and Gold to represent South Africa in the Elite Men’s Time Trial tomorrow when he rolls down the start ramp at 13:16(19:16 RSA).
Byron, the former National Time Trial Champion finished 20th at last years Championships hosted in Kagali, Rwanda. The 39,2km Montréal course has significantly less climbing than last year with only 220m of elevation. However with majority of the climbing coming at the end of the course riders are going to have to monitor their efforts to ensure enough in the tank to finish strong on the climb up to the finish line. A notable feature on the course will be the F1 track, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The race is broadcasted live on Supersport from 18:35 RSA. It can also be streamed on Tiz Cycling:
