ANOTHER GASKIN TO THE FORE...
As a result of cross-bookings, the Sea Point Congregation was served by the rector of Table View, District Elder Baron Gaskin, on Sunday morning. Baron Gaskin is the brother of Shepherd Gavin Gaskin, the former rector of Sea Point. Another Table View administration brother, Eugene Lakay (inset), was called up.

Sea Point Priests on the move...
HERMAN R GIBBS
On a poignant Sunday morning, the Sea Point congregation in Marais Road bid farewell to two of its most cherished figures, Priests Andre Prinsloo and Nugent Atherton. After dedicating nearly 20 years of service, these administration brothers have left an indelible mark on the community through their unwavering commitment to the Lord's Work.

Though neither priest resided along the picturesque Atlantic Seaboard, their impact was felt deeply within the congregation. Their commitment to serving others was evident to all and served as a model for both current and future members of the church.

In a post-service farewell fellowship filled with love and appreciation, members shared stories of the priests' kindness and wisdom, highlighting the strong bonds forged over the years.

The Sea Point congregation extends its best wishes to Prinsloo and Atherton as they embark on their new paths. The faith community is certain that their next congregations will benefit immensely from their passion and dedication.

Sea Point enjoy fellowship after Mandela Day initiative

20 July 2026 - This past weekend, the Sea Point Marais Road Congregation demonstrated the power of community and kindness, echoing Nelson Mandela's legacy through its activities.

On Saturday, the youth hosted its annual Dare2Care initiative, a hallmark of the church's commitment to service, in the spacious upstairs hall. Young members of the congregation engaged in various acts of kindness, dedicating their efforts to honour Mandela Day.

The Dare2Care initiative provided an opportunity for the youth to embody the spirit of Ubuntu, a concept championed by Mandela, which highlights the interconnectedness of humanity. As they rolled up their sleeves to lend a helping hand, the young congregants not only celebrated the values of compassion and service but also created lasting impacts within their community.

Following the uplifting events of Saturday, the congregation gathered on Sunday for a Divine Service, which culminated in a fellowship hour filled with warmth and camaraderie. Members and visitors alike enjoyed tea, coffee, and snacks, further strengthening the bonds of community that the church fosters.

Among the guests was Priest Ernst Beukes, who previously served the Sea Point Congregation for several years. His presence was a reminder of the spirit of service and dedication that resonates within the congregation. The fellowship hour provided a cherished moment for reflection and connection, allowing church members to share experiences and reaffirm their commitment to supporting one another.

WE DARE2CARE...
The New Apostolic Church's annual Dare2Care initiative came into full force on Saturday, 18 July, at the Sea Point Congregation. The congregation's young people engaged in acts of kindness while also celebrating Mandela Day.

This event, which underscores the church's ethos, saw the youth actively participating in various acts of kindness, embodying the values the late Nelson Mandela stood for.

The day kicked off with a series of planned activities (foot spa and nail treatments) that aimed not only to uplift the congregation's senior members but also to foster a sense of unity and purpose among the congregation's young members.

Latest Sea Point Sentinel
On May 24, 2026, the New Apostolic Church witnessed a historic milestone during its global Pentecost celebration, an event that reverberated with significance and spiritual rejuvenation. This landmark occasion marked noteworthy leadership changes that will shape its future.

In honour of this monumental occasion, the Sea Point congregation has produced a commemorative edition. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Twelve Apostles mountain range, our congregation has a natural connection to the Apostles. It is probably why we remain the crown jewel of our Apostle District.

More than just a written record, this edition aims to encapsulate the spirit of Pentecost 2026, ensuring the memories, teachings, and changes will resonate for years to come.

Years ago, former DA Johnny Kriel noted that the Sea Point Sentinel was among the highest-quality church publications.

In a heartwarming display of fellowship, the seniors of Crawford Congregation gathered for a special event celebrating their cherished connections with brethren from Sea Point.

This vibrant gathering not only reaffirmed existing bonds but also fostered a warm sense of community among members of the two congregations.

The day was filled with shared laughter, enriching conversations, and delightful activities, as both congregations revelled in each other's company.

The culmination of the day's activities was truly memorable, as participants enjoyed a leisurely walk along the iconic promenade, basking in the vibrant sunshine coming in over the ocean.

Signed, SEALED — and Delivered
HERMAN GIBBS
This Sunday morning, 9 November 2025, the Sea Point congregation in Marais Road witnessed a profound celebration of faith, marked by two significant acts: Holy Sealing and Communion for the Departed.

Three souls were SEALED, signifying their affirmation of faith and commitment to God.

In a landmark event for Sea Point, Apostle Robert Worship was ASSIGNED to preside over the Communion for the Departed for the first time in its 29-year history. Two dedicated ministers stood as proxies as the congregation experienced an event of profound significance in the realm of spiritual remembrance.

Communion, a core tenet of our faith, promises DELIVERANCE from sins for those who partake in it with sincerity and a pure heart. The Apostle led the worship of congregants spanning 13 countries across the New Apostolic Church Southern Africa region.

Through this intervention, hundreds of thousands around Southern Africa experienced a poignant moment that allowed all to reflect on those, known and unknown, who are no longer with us.

In moments like these, our faith in ongoing spiritual connections beyond this life is reinforced.

In a remarkable display of vocal prowess and spiritual fervour, the smallish choir delivered a stunning rendition of the revered piece, 'Holy Art Thou'. The performance, featuring 19 members—six males and 13 females—was not just a musical event; it was a powerful worship experience that resonated deeply with those present.

Their feisty rendition was so vibrant and expressive that it would have garnered a smile of approval from the legend George Frideric Handel himself.

Apostle Robert Worship, known for his eloquent and stirring address, found himself momentarily speechless, thanks to the profound impact of the performance, which married harmony with heartfelt devotion.

In Memory of Colin September...
We mourn the loss of the extraordinary organist, Colin September, whose immense talent has left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

My journey with Colin began in mid-1966 when the New Apostolic Church congregation was built in Camelia Street, Bonteheuwel. On June 29, 1966, the late District Apostle Karl R. Gut dedicated the church building, which could seat 1,300 people.

On that momentous occasion, Colin was at the organ, a role District Apostle Gut specially chose for him. It was a remarkable day, made even more historic with the installation of the renowned Hammond organ, which Colin mastered effortlessly, its grand display of pipes positioned majestically behind him.

Throughout the years, Colin not only excelled as a talented musician but also made his mark as a dedicated music teacher. He shared his passion by instructing countless students in various instruments and even served as a moderator for music examinations. His commitment to music education also led him to travel internationally, sharing his expertise with congregations.

Here in this picture, Colin is on the keyboards, leading the orchestra at Herman and Jane's wedding in the garden of the 12 Apostles Hotel in Oudekraal. Lorraine his sister, far right, is on the cello.

RIP Colin September
The remarkable organist Colin September, an immensely gifted musician, has passed on. Over the years, he occasionally played the organ in our Sea Point congregation while his sister Lorraine served as the choir mistress.
In this cherished moment, you can see Colin at the keyboards, skillfully leading the orchestra at the wedding of Herman and Jane in the garden of the 12 Apostles Hotel in Oudekraal, with Lorraine on the cello, far right.
