Audit with Attitude

On the 3rd August 2026, MGI RAS team had the honour of participating in the exciting “Audit with Attitude” student competition hosted by the Auditing and Accounting Department at the Central University of Technology, Welkom Campus.

Our delegates enjoyed an inspiring day engaging with passionate and talented students who demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity, teamwork and a strong interest in the accounting and auditing profession.

As part of the programme, the MGIRAS team delivered a motivational talk on careers in finance, accounting and auditing, sharing insights from our own professional journeys and encouraging students to remain focused, curious and intentional as they build their careers. We also highlighted the diverse opportunities available within the profession and the importance of continuously developing both technical expertise and professional skills.

Our delegates were also honoured to contribute to the “Audit with Attitude” competition, engaging with students as they showcased their knowledge, confidence and ability to work collaboratively.

Our firm believes that investing in future professionals goes beyond recruitment, it is about sharing knowledge, creating opportunities and inspiring the next generation of leaders in finance and auditing.

A special thank you to the Central University of Technology, Free State , Welkom Campus, and the Auditing and Accounting Department for the warm welcome and for creating such a meaningful platform for students and industry professionals to connect.

MGI RAS - Job Shadowing

As a firm we believe that inspiring the next generation of professionals starts with meaningful exposure to the workplace.

We recently had the privilege of hosting a Grade 11 learner for a full-day job shadowing experience, giving her an opportunity to gain practical insight into the accounting and auditing profession. Throughout the day, she engaged with our team, observed the work we do, and learned about the critical role accountants and auditors play in promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance.

The session also explored the various professional qualification pathways available to aspiring finance professionals, including CA(SA) through SAICA, ACCA, CIMA, and SAIGA, helping her understand the different routes to building a successful career in the profession.

What made the experience particularly memorable was her enthusiasm, curiosity, and active participation. She asked insightful and relevant questions throughout the day, demonstrating a genuine interest in the profession and a strong desire to learn.

We are proud to support initiatives that empower young people to make informed career choices and look forward to seeing the positive impact this experience will have on her future.

We're Hiring! Audit Senior

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Audit Senior to join our Audit and Assurance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading audit engagements, supervising audit teams, ensuring compliance with applicable auditing and accounting standards, and delivering high-quality audit services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute audit engagements from planning to completion.
- Lead and supervise audit teams, ensuring quality work and adherence to deadlines.
- Review audit working papers and supporting documentation prepared by junior team members.
- Identify and assess risks of material misstatement and develop appropriate audit procedures.
- Evaluate internal controls and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare and review audit reports, management reports, and other engagement deliverables.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management and clients.
- Ensure compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), applicable accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor engagement budgets and timelines and report progress to management.
- Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to audit trainees and junior staff.
- Assist in resolving technical accounting and auditing matters.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Auditing, Financial Accounting, Accounting Sciences, or a related accounting qualification (CTA will be an added advantage).
- Completed articles
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in external auditing.
- Experience leading audit engagements and supervising audit teams.
- Sound knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISA), IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, and/or GRAP.
- Knowledge of Draftworx platform.

- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple engagements.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong planning, organisational, and time-management skills.
