Before taking a wild guess, try this quick trick to prevent a laundry disaster:

▪ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗯 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁: Dampen a small, hidden area (like an inside seam) and press a white cloth or cotton pad against it. If colour transfers to the cloth, the dye will run!

▪ 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗜𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱: Always wash multi-coloured items in cold water. Heat loosens dye molecules and causes bleeding.

▪ 𝗧𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿: Use a dye-trapping sheet in the drum for extra protection against stray colours ruining your lighter sections. (Added tip)

▪ 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁: If it passes the test, wash with lights; if it bleeds even a little, group it with darks or wash it separately.

🧺 Top Tips:

✔ Turn garments inside out before washing to reduce friction.
✔ Choose a gentle or delicate cycle and avoid overloading the machine.
✔ Use a fabric conditioner to help fibres glide past each other more easily.
✔ Air dry when possible, as tumble dryers can increase pilling on some fabrics.

✔ 𝗚𝗼 𝗟𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱: Use a liquid detergent for darks. Powder detergent can leave chalky white streaks on black fabric.
