Rebuilding hope in the Valley. We believe a child who is fed but not mentored, or tutored but not loved, receives only a partial outcome.

That’s why we build around four pillars: Education • Mentorship • Nutrition • Sport

Every weekday afternoon the Renewal Hub in Blanco fills up — lessons, a hot meal, time to play, and grown-ups with time for every child. Somewhere safe a child can find, every afternoon.

Since 2020 we have put a plate in front of the children of Golden Valley every single day — today, nearly 200 of them. It is the simplest thing we do, and the one everything else is built on.

R300 puts a plate in front of one child, every day, for a month.

A teacher at Kretzenshoop Primary first met Tannie Let when she arrived with uniforms and stationery for some of her learners.

What stood out was not the delivery — it was the children's reaction. Faces lighting up. Hugs within moments.

Being known by name is the intervention. Everything else follows from it.

Mentored at-risk youth graduate at 76%. Without a mentor, 40%.

That gap is not talent and it is not effort. It is whether one adult keeps showing up.

So picture the child who was going to leave school in Grade 9, and instead sits the exam — because for two years somebody checked her homework every afternoon and fed her before she started.

We are not asking you to fund a feeling. We are asking you to fund the afternoons.

Deenie Martin was here before there was an Elpida.

She stood behind Love Looks Like Something when it was a soup kitchen and a handful of volunteers, and she watched it become three programs and a building on a twenty-year lease.

"The hands and feet of Jesus," she calls it — showing up in the crisis, and then again on the ordinary Tuesday when nobody is watching.

That second part is the expensive one. It is also the part that works.

Sixty children in a classroom. One teacher.

That is the arithmetic our tutors work against every afternoon — and it is why a child who falls behind in March is still behind in November unless somebody has time for her.

The Renewal Hub is that time. R64,000 a month keeps the doors open: tutors, counsellors, lights, water, and a meal Monday to Friday.

If you run a business and would rather commit properly than give once, ask us for a meeting. We will show you the books.

Victor Laws, Golden Valley
When the storms hit the Western Cape and homes were damaged or lost, rebuilding started without a committee meeting. Victor Laws watched it happen from inside the community.

Finishing those homes is our current FOUNDATIONS need — R140,000 to complete the rebuilds still outstanding in the Valley.
