Smart Paws Academy

Maddison is a lovely 4 month old Pomeranian that attended an individual lesson this morning. She has improved tremendously since her previous lesson. She definitely enjoys the yummy chicken rewards!

Frankie, an Australian shepherd, learning to be calm and relaxed while being tied up. It is a very useful skill and can be helpful in several environments. Puppies are taught using positive reinforcement, patience and consistency.

Well done to Romie, Momo and their humans for completing the 8 week puppy course. So great seeing small breeds at class. All dogs need training, including the small ones. Romie has been one of the best Dachshund's we had at class - confident, quiet and obedient! Momo has also surprised us with his sweet nature and great focus for his owners. We are so proud of you!

Happy international dog day!

The most special team, Zonika and her little Border Collie, Forest, completed their 8 puppy classes today. It has been a pleasure having them in the class. Forest has been an A star student! Looking forward seeing him excel at all the new tricks he will be learning at the next classes.

How cute is little Cleo? She is doing so well with her obedience and tricks. Just look at that "sit pretty" trick.

Few photos of Marvel's trick demonstration at Voorbereiding school last week.

Forest posing proudly with the biscuit he won for performing the best "spin" trick. Dogs enjoy learning different tricks. It's great for mental stimulation and building a stronger bond between you and your dog.

Marvel showed off her tricks and obedience at Preparatory/ Voorbereiding school this morning. It formed part of "animal week" for the grade ones. It's always so nice to see the little kids faces light up when they see all the animals. It's so important to educate children in regards to proper husbandry and handling of dogs. Perhaps they will start training their own dogs at home.

Well done Vida and Kaiser for completing our 8 week puppy course.

It's not often we see purebred Chow Chows at training classes. This is little Ash, he is a 6 month old Chow Chow. True to the breed, he was very suspicious of us at first. Chows are known to be aloof and stubborn. They were originally bred to guard properties. Unlike the common traits, Ash did respond well to his training session.
