President Kgwale praises community leaders and SALGA for successful first sitting of the De Hoop Dam Governance Assembly
The President of the De Hoop Dam Governance Assembly (DH-GA), Mr Mahlagaume M. Kgwale, has declared the inaugural sitting of the Governance Assembly of De Hoop Dam on Tuesday 09 June 2026 as a historic success and a major step towards building a united, accountable, and representative governance platform for communities surrounding De Hoop Dam.
Mr Kgwale thanked community representatives, political principals, SALGA Limpopo, SDA, presenters, and all stakeholders for their passionate participation, constructive engagement, and commitment to consultation, consensus, and coherence.
Key milestones included the adoption of Assembly credentials, presentation of the Executive Mayor’s message, circulation of the Draft Terms of Reference, stakeholder management lessons from FTSEZ, SALGA Blue Economy Programme induction, and adoption of Assembly resolutions.
The Assembly marks a new chapter of participatory governance, community empowerment, sustainable development, and responsible dam management.
