On Saturday, 12 September 2026, we opened the doors of Overstrand Learning Hub (OLH) for our Open Day — and despite the cold and rainy weather, we were so grateful to welcome students, tutors, prospective students and members of our community! 🌧️☕💙

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who braved the weather and joined us. Your support, enthusiasm and interest helped make the day a wonderful success.

📚✨ Teaching Practice Tutorials at Overstrand Learning Hub – Session 2 ✨📚
Another valuable Teaching Practice Tutorial is complete, and our student teachers are one step closer to entering the classroom with confidence! 🌟
This session focused on the building blocks of an effective lesson:
🎶 Using action songs and rhymes to make learning fun and support additional language development.
📝 Understanding that a well-planned lesson is the foundation of great teaching.
👩‍🏫 Creating learner-centered lessons that help learners stay engaged and remember what they've learned.
We also explored key lesson planning tips, including:
✅ Writing objectives that align with assessment methods.
✅ Using Bloom's Taxonomy questions to create meaningful learning outcomes.
✅ Giving clear instructions that learners can easily understand.
✅ Staying focused on the lesson theme and choosing stories that support learning.
✅ Allowing enough time for activities and using Brain Gym breaks to regain learners' attention.
Every great teacher starts with preparation, passion and a willingness to learn. We are proud of our student teachers as they continue to develop the skills they'll soon use to inspire young minds. 💙

Our Teaching Practice Tutorial was filled with real experiences, honest advice, and plenty of inspiration as three of our student teachers currently completing their internships shared their journeys so far inside a classroom.
From overcoming first-day nerves to building confidence in the classroom, they reminded us that great teachers are patient, professional, consistent, and always willing to go the extra mile for their learners. They encouraged fellow students to embrace feedback, learn from every experience, value every learner's voice, and create inclusive classrooms where every child feels safe, seen, and supported.
Teaching is about so much more than lessons—it's about making a lasting impact on young lives. 💙
