Background
The Kgetleng rivier Local Municipality (NW374) is located in the Southeastern part of North West Province and forms part of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality (DC37), bordering Rustenburg Local Municipality on the west Ventersdorp Local Municipality (which falls under the Southern District Municipality) on the south, Ditsobotla Local municipality on the east, Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality (which falls on the Central District Municipality) on the north east as well as Moses Kotane on the north side. The Northern portion of the area is situated on one of the main SDI’s identified by National Government (Department of Trade and Industry in co-operation with the Department of Transport). It forms part of an explicit spatial programme aiming to unlock the inherent and under utilized economic development potential of specific spatial locations in South Africa.

Celebrating Literacy and Heritage Month
Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality celebrated Literacy and Heritage Month at the Redirile Library, bringing together learners from Marema Combined School and residents of Redirile.
The event highlighted the importance of reading, literacy, and preserving our cultural heritage. It provided an opportunity for learners and community members to engage, learn, and celebrate different cultures.

ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS HANDOVER CEREMONY HELD AT SUN CITY
Municipalities across the North West Province successfully submitted their Annual Financial Statements (AFS) and Annual Performance Reports (APR) to the Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) and Provincial Treasury on 31 August 2026.
Representing Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality at the Annual Financial Statements handover ceremony held at Sun City, the Acting Mayor, Cllr Thukulala Motaung, together with the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr Andrew Pholose, and the Acting Chief Financial Officer, Mrs Tebogo Mogapi, submitted the Municipality's AFS and APR to the Auditor-General and Provincial Treasury.
The submission marks an important milestone in the Municipality's commitment to good governance, financial accountability, transparency and improved performance.

MPAC INTERVIEWS – ANNUAL REPORT 2024/2025
Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality’s Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) conducted two days interviews sessions with the Acting Municipal Manager and Senior Managers, Acting on the 2024/2025 Annual Report.
The sessions focus on accountability, oversight, performance, financial management and service delivery.
