STRATEGIC WORM MANAGEMENT FOR RESILIENT FLOCKS
With El Niño raising concerns about grazing and feed, every treatment should count. Deworming an entire flock every month, whether needed or not, may be a waste money and can accelerate resistance.
Watch your animals, record treatments and note whether they worked. Before buying a remedy, check its active ingredients and drug group: a different brand may contain the same ingredients. Treat animals that need help rather than automatically treating the whole flock. Changing drug groups may help inform a treatment plan, but rotation alone cannot prevent resistance. TaliMune SUPER supports heavily burdened animals, while you get appropriate advice from experts.
Some communal farmers may have limited access to veterinary services. Ask sellers why they recommend a treatment, and seek trusted professional advice where possible, especially if a remedy seems to be failing.
Talitha Pharma®’s WhatsApp groups offer access to expert animal health advice, while our Channel shares information farmers can revisit.
Treat with purpose. Protect your flock, your money and the remedies you may need tomorrow.

GIVING A SURVIVAL CHANCE
Is your cow, sheep, goat, pig or horse so unwell that you fear it may die?
Seek help from a veterinarian or animal health professional immediately. While you wait for help, take action. Drench with TaliMune SUPER according to the label: 50 ml for every 25 kg of body weight as an initial dose.
No scale? Estimate your animal’s weight as carefully as you can. These examples may help:
- 🐑🐐🐖 Sheep, goat or pig weighing approximately 40–50 kg: 80–100 ml
- 🐄 Cow weighing approximately 300–400 kg: 600–800 ml
- 🐎 Horse weighing approximately 400–500 kg: 800 ml–1 L
These dosages are guides based on estimated weight. If you are unsure about the weight or how to drench your animals, contact a Talitha Pharma animal health professional or Customer Experience Consultant.
When an animal is critically ill, acting promptly could make a meaningful difference to its life and to your investment. 🐑🐐🐖🐄🐎

RAIN, WARM WEATHER AND THE RISING RISK OF BLUETONGUE DISEASE
The arrival of seasonal rain and warmer weather brings welcome grazing, but it also creates favourable conditions for the biting midges that transmit vector-borne diseases such as bluetongue.
Bluetongue is a viral disease that can cause severe illness, particularly in sheep. Farmers should watch for signs such as fever, loss of appetite, excessive salivation, nasal discharge, swelling of the lips, tongue and face, difficulty breathing, lameness or inflammation around the hooves, wool breakage and rapid weight loss. Severely affected sheep may die.
The consequences can be costly. Beyond mortalities, affected flocks may suffer reduced growth, loss of condition, poor wool quality, reproductive losses and lower overall productivity. Treatment and additional labour further increase the financial burden on the farmer.
VACCINATE BEFORE THE RISK INCREASES
Vaccination remains the most effective protection against bluetongue. Only healthy animals should be vaccinated, and the full vaccination programme must be administered correctly, at the recommended intervals and before the high-risk season. Farmers should always follow the vaccine label and consult their veterinarian or animal health technician when uncertain.
The OBP BLUETONGUE Vaccine for Sheep is a live, attenuated vaccine supplied as three separate components—Bottles A, B and C—to provide protection against multiple strains of the bluetongue virus. Each component plays an important role in building broad protection and must be administered in the correct sequence, at the intervals specified on the product label. Skipping a bottle or failing to complete the full programme may leave animals inadequately protected.
The vaccine must be stored and handled correctly to preserve its effectiveness.
Vaccination protects healthy animals; it does not treat sheep that are already sick.
SUPPORT AFFECTED ANIMALS WITH TaliMune SUPER
Animals affected by bluetongue often stop eating and become weak as their bodies fight the infection. TaliMune SUPER provides rapid nutritional and immune support during this critical period. It helps restore appetite, supports general immunity and gives affected animals the additional support they need to recover faster.
Early recognition, appropriate supportive care and professional veterinary guidance can make a meaningful difference to an animal’s chances of recovery.
Do not wait until bluetongue begins costing you animals. Vaccinate healthy sheep correctly and support affected animals promptly.

PLANT THE RIGHT SEEDS
Every worthwhile harvest begins with a seed.
A farmer understands this instinctively. A seed must first disappear into the ground before it can multiply. To the untrained eye, it looks like a loss. In reality, it is an investment.
Livestock farmers, especially strategic farmers, understand the same principle. A successful lambing or calving season does not begin at birth—it begins months earlier with the decisions made at mating. The quality of the ram or bull, the condition of the breeding animals and the management decisions leading up to mating all determine the quality of the crop to come.
The harvest is not always proportional to what we plant, but one thing is certain: if we plant nothing, we should expect nothing. More importantly, if we desire a better harvest, we must be intentional about the seed we choose to plant.
The same principle applies to life and business.
Strong relationships are built long before they bear fruit. Trust is planted before it is earned. Value is created before it is returned. Every meaningful investment we make today shapes the opportunities we enjoy tomorrow.
At Talitha, we believe sustainable success is never accidental. It grows from the seeds we consistently plant—in our people, our customers, our partners and our communities.
Because the future is not something we wait for. It is something we plant.
