DMV Interior Design

Oh! How we love designing a boardroom. 🤩

There’s something about this space that gives us the opportunity to push the corporate boundaries a little more. It’s where the client’s CI can take on a more formal, sophisticated feel, while still fitting into the language of the rest of the office.

For GIB at Bloomingdales, we layered warm timber with black detailing, full height glazing and a statement pendant over the boardroom table. The timber slatted wall brings warmth and texture into the room, while the glazing keeps it connected to the office beyond.

It’s polished. It’s professional. But it still has personality.

Because if there’s one room in an office that deserves to make an impression, it’s the boardroom.

There’s something quite satisfying about watching a detail come together on site.

At 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 in St Francis Bay, the existing staircase was given a new lease on life rather than being completely replaced.

New engineered timber flooring was introduced across the treads, while patterned feature tiles were used on the risers to bring a bit of personality into what could otherwise have been a very ordinary transition between floors.

The existing balustrade was retained, keeping a little of the home’s original character and proving that a renovation doesn’t always mean starting from scratch.

Swipe through to see this one take shape. We love watching a project progress on site and seeing our designs become reality.

A few details from site on this St Francis Canals transformation.

The project involved extensive additions and alterations, with the original thatch roof replaced by shingles as part of the transformation.

It’s always great getting to this stage and seeing the smaller details come together. From the new roof forms and ceilings to the staircase, finishes and joinery, the house is really taking shape.

Completion images to follow soon… 👀

There’s something about a braai area that just feels like home in SA.🔥

It’s where people gather, where the kitchen seems to naturally spill outside, and where a quick braai can very easily turn into an entire afternoon around the fire.

Over the years, DMV Architecture x DMV Interior Design have designed quite a few versions of this very South African space. From covered patios and built-in braais to courtyards, bars and entertainment areas that become part of the everyday home.

Different homes, different styles, same idea: give the fire a good spot and make sure there’s plenty of room around it for people.😁

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa. Here’s to good design, good company and something lekker on the braai.🥩

Looking up was always meant to be part of the experience at EDF’s updated Cape Town offices.

Rather than treating the ceiling as a flat overhead plane, we introduced layers of circular feature lighting and suspended acoustic elements at varying heights, adding depth and movement to the space.

The soft, organic forms break up the more linear elements of the office, while the pops of orange and blue bring a sense of fun and personality into the workplace. Beyond the visual impact, the acoustic elements help absorb sound within this busy communal area, proving that the playful parts of an interior can still work hard.

A little colour, a little movement and a ceiling with a lot more personality.

There’s something about Klompie tiles that just feels right in a farmhouse. 🤎

For this Kirkwood home, we’ve introduced Klompie flooring throughout the living spaces, bringing a raw, authentic quality into the interiors that immediately adds warmth and character.

Laid in a herringbone pattern, the natural variation in the clay gives the floor a beautifully imperfect finish. No two tiles are quite the same, and that texture becomes part of the story of the home.

We love how it sits alongside the warm timber, natural stone, soft neutral finishes and more refined elements of the interior. It feels rustic without feeling heavy, and gives a newly designed space the sense that it has already been lived in and loved for years.

And because the flooring continues from the kitchen and living areas into the covered entertainment space, it creates a lovely connection between indoors and out.

A new design feature, but one that feels completely at home on the farm. 🌿

There’s something satisfying about seeing a design move from screen to site. 👀

Progress at this bespoke new build on the St Francis Links Golf Estate, where one of the home’s key interior features is starting to take shape.

The stairwell was designed as more than simply a connection between levels. Floating timber treads, a strong black steel spine and layers of natural light come together to turn a functional part of the home into a design feature in its own right.

From the early 3D to the raw construction stage and what’s still to come, this is where we get to see the details we’ve been working on become real.

3D → site → watch this space.
