Zwide Development Forum - ZDF

🇿🇦 ZDF HERITAGE DAY MESSAGE – 24 SEPTEMBER 2026 🇿🇦

Celebrating Our Living Heritage: Strengthening the Ties That Bind Us

Today, Zwide Development Forum (ZDF) joins South Africans in celebrating our rich and diverse heritage.

Heritage is more than our history. It is our language, culture, traditions, music, stories, values, knowledge, places and the people who came before us. It is what connects generations and gives our communities a sense of identity and belonging.

As ZDF, we believe that our heritage must not only be remembered — it must be protected, celebrated and passed on to the next generation.

Let us teach our children the history of Zwide. Let us honour our community's heroes and elders. Let us preserve our stories, celebrate our talent, support our artists and cultural practitioners, and create spaces where young people can learn about where they come from.

Our heritage can also be a foundation for community development, education, tourism, skills development and economic opportunities.

On this Heritage Day, let us embrace the spirit of Ubuntu — I am because we are.

Let us celebrate who we are.
Let us honour where we come from.
Let us protect what belongs to our community.
And let us build a better future together.

Happy Heritage Day from Zwide Development Forum (ZDF)! 🇿🇦❤️

MA-ZWIDE, LET’S SUPPORT OUR HOMEGROWN TALENT! ❤️💚💛

As one of the pillars of the Zwide Development Forum (ZDF) — Sports, Arts, Culture & Heritage — we believe in recognising, celebrating and supporting the incredible talent that comes from our community.

Today, we proudly support Isenathi Somandi, a young talent from Zwide, Gqeberha, who is representing the Eastern Cape in the Face of South Africa Teenager 2026. 👑🇿🇦

Ma-Zwide, let us stand together and support our own! 🙌🏾

Let’s show Isenathi that when a young person from Zwide steps forward, Zwide stands behind her!

🔥 IYE EKHAYA LEMBASA! 🔥
Let the crown come home! 👑

Let’s support, encourage and celebrate our young talent as she takes this journey.

“When we support our own, we build a community where talent can thrive.”

LOOKING BACK: ZDF MANDELA WEEK 2026

Some moments may be shared late, but the impact of our work in the community continues. ❤️💚

Zwide Development Forum (ZDF) proudly looks back on our Mandela Week activities, where community members, young people, partners and volunteers came together in the spirit of service, solidarity and meaningful community development.

From sport and youth engagement to poverty alleviation, access to services and community mobilisation, our message remained clear:

A better Zwide is built by all of us, together. 🤝🏾

We would like to thank everyone who participated, supported and contributed to making these activities meaningful.

A special thank you to our valued partners, Nelson Mandela University Engagement Office and SANGOCO, for standing with ZDF and supporting our community development initiatives. 🤝🏾

Together we can make a meaningful change in our communities. ❤️💚

🌱 ZDF | MAKING A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY 🤝🏾

Today, the Zwide Development Forum (ZDF) had the privilege of working alongside Third-Year Social Work students from Nelson Mandela University (NMU) to assist learners in our community who are in need of birth certificates.

A birth certificate is more than just a document — it is a gateway to accessing essential services and opportunities. Through this initiative, we are helping ensure that children who qualify can access the SASSA Child Support Grant and other social services, while also supporting their basic needs and wellbeing.

This is what community partnership and meaningful engagement look like — bringing together community organisations, students and institutions to identify challenges and find practical solutions.

👏🏾 ZDF applauds the commitment of the NMU Social Work students for joining us in making a difference in the lives of our learners.

Together, we can continue building a stronger, more caring and empowered community — one learner, one family and one community at a time. ❤️

🌸 HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY! 🌸

Today we celebrate the strength, courage, resilience and achievements of women.

To all the women in our communities, families, workplaces and organisations — you are valued, respected and appreciated. Your contribution, sacrifices and leadership continue to make our communities stronger.

May we continue to support, empower and protect women, and work together to build a society where every woman and girl can live with dignity, equality and opportunity.

Happy Women’s Day to all the incredible women! ❤️🌸

Community initiatives are essential by nature. For us at Zwide Development Forum, they represent “ukubambisana” - working together so that we can all enjoy a better quality of life and improved community living standards. ❤️

We’d love to hear your perspective: what do community initiatives mean to you, and in what ways are you contributing to giving back to your community? ✨

Community initiatives are very dear to our hearts as they are who we are, and speak much about human dignity!✨

We implemented a successful food drive in collaboration with the Peddie Development Centre, where we donated 100 food packs to 100 community members.

Umntu ngumntu ngabantu, and as the Zwide Development Centre, we are here to make a change in the community.

Today, we visited four schools in Zwide following concerns about access to sanitary pads and nutrition support. It was found that many learners without birth certificates are excluded from receiving essential support, including food allocations.

Schools also raised challenges such as absent parents, children living with grandparents, and social issues affecting families. ZDF remains committed to working with schools, stakeholders, and government departments to ensure every learner receives the dignity, care, and support they deserve.

We are here to support our community at the best way possible, izandla ziyahlambana.✨❤️

The recent floods have severely affected our communities, undermining human dignity as many families are forced to live in water-damaged homes, with essential belongings destroyed or rendered unusable.

As the Zwide Development Forum, we stand together in solidarity with everyone impacted during this difficult time. We have launched a donation drive to assist affected families and individuals. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. Remember, “a helping hand is priceless, and together we are stronger.”

Ngoko ke, masisebenzisaneni kunye.❤️✨
