A MESSAGE OF SOLIDARITY TO THE MACE FAMILY

Our heritage is deeply rooted in uBuntu, and our strength as a community lies in our collective responsibility to protect, support, and care for those we love and those around us.

We are deeply saddened by the latest reports of the killing and violence directed towards women in our country. These tragic incidents continue to threaten the safety and wellbeing of women, children and other vulnerable members of our society.

MACE unequivocally condemns such cruelty and violence against women and children. We therefore call upon all members of the MACE family to remain vigilant and exercise caution as they go about their daily responsibilities.

We are mindful that many of our institutions are currently preparing for or hosting graduation ceremonies, while our students are also navigating the pressures of examinations and completing the academic year. We recognise that moments that should be filled with celebration and achievement can also be overshadowed by fear and uncertainty. We extend our support to our students and urge institutions and all members of our community to do everything possible to ensure that students feel safe, supported and able to focus on their academic responsibilities.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families who have been affected by these tragic events. We pray for comfort for those who have lost loved ones, strength for those who are grieving, and safety for our students, colleagues, families and communities.

As a gesture of solidarity with all those affected, we request every MACE member to observe a moment of silence today at 13:00.

Let us continue to stand together as a MACE family, guided by the spirit of uBuntu, compassion and solidarity.

Please take care of yourselves and one another. Let us remain safe until we meet again in November.

We begin on 17 November with three focused Pre-Conference Master Classes covering:
• Fundraising & Alumni
• Marketing & Communications
• Student Recruitment

From 18–19 November, our main conference programme brings professionals from across the higher education sector together to share practice, challenge thinking, strengthen relationships and explore the growing strategic value of marketing, communication and advancement.

And, of course, we’ll close by celebrating the very best of our profession at the 2026 MACE Excellence Awards. 🏆
