Initiated by Abigail Brown, 2024 M&M Award winner and NMU Fine Arts Honours graduate, the exhibition explores that wonderfully uncomfortable space between 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 and 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.

We’re incredibly proud to see Banele Njadayi featured in The Herald ahead of his debut solo exhibition, MAYIYE, opening at Art on Target Gallery on 28 August.

MAYIYE explores memory, movement, identity, migration, motherhood, healing and the enduring resilience of black life through paintings, charcoal drawings and mixed-media works.

Banele’s artistic journey is one we have had the privilege of witnessing and nurturing, and we are excited to share this important milestone with our community.
