Multiple Major deep sea fibre cables off the coast of Africa have been broken. Users in Africa may be unable to access multiple Microsoft services or features.

The final few clients experiencing downtime will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Update on cause:
Saturday we had Major Cable Break on both of our Fibres suppliers, that supply Internet to our clients. A Point of Presence was Vandalized in Roodepoort where 2x 144 Core and 4x 72 were cut off and ALL each core had to be re-spliced. Connectivity came back up just after 8 34pm

Sunday we started to experience the same issues at around 13 45pm and All connectivity went down. We came back live at 16 32pm and dropped again after 18 23pm with Intermitted connectivity. All services were fully restored at 20 35pm. All points out that an Unscheduled maintenance was planned at the same vandalized pop to finish repairs as network degrading was still being noticed

Going forward, we are meeting up with all stakeholders this afternoon as both Backhaul Fibres going down at the same time and place is a huge concern to us. We are busy contacting other upstream providers on other backhaul fibres. Lead time will be 1 - 5 months.

We do apologize for any inconveniences that the down time has caused. Unfortunately this was out of our control as theft and vandalism are starting to occur frequently.

Update: Connection was restored after 16 34pm. However we are seeing intermitted connection on the backhaul Fibres supplying our Internet Connection - 18 25pm.

Reason: Huge 6x Fibre Break due to Vandalism in Roodepoort area. Fibre Teams are on site and has started repairs, no eta at this stage. Next update 8pm

Update: Our civil engineering team have prepared the site and the fibre technicians are ready to commence splicing. The estimated time for repairs to be completed is 8 hours.
