to the most unexpected friendships!
Who says dogs and cheetahs can't be friends? When Jabu, our dog, was younger, he loved to spend time with some of the cheetahs, specifically our beloved Kiki and Shadow. It was a spectacular bond of unlikely friends.

Happy 16th Birthday to our precious old lady Shadow! We are so blessed with you in our lives. You have contributed to so many cheetah cubs to the wild population, and you are already a great-grandmother to many wild born cubs. You are such a legendary lady, even though you dont look a day older than 8! We get teary just thinking that the day will come when your footprints fade and your heartwarming purr will only be a treasured memory. We love you Shadsie 💓

Look how incredibly big and pregnant Abi is!! She's glowing and ready to bring some new little cubs into the world early next week.
But the question is, how many do you think she's going to have?

Can you believe it's already been 9 months since these little fluffballs came into our lives? They have grown into such beautiful, brave and strong youngsters. And who knows, they may not be the only ones for much longer...

Meet Jack the new rðescued . Almost 2 weeks ago, one of our resident donkies had the most beautiful fluffy white foal. The little guy was doing very well, seemed healthy and full of energy running around and playing with his mom. Sadly two days ago we found the foal laying some distance from his mom. On closer inspection, we realized that he couldn't stand up and remained weak. We brought him home and started rehydration whilst arranging an emergency trip to our vet, which is about one hour from us. We feared that he might have broken his pelvis while jumping around. The vet did a thorough examination and concluded that his problem was neurological due to either a head or neck injury. This meant there was not much we could do but hope and pray that he would recover on his own. He received the necessary medical treatment and we brought little Jack home to make him as comfortable as possible. Yesterday, we started with hydrotherapy in our swimming pool to improve his condition. We will keep trying to get him back on his feet any way we can.
We give him special milk every 2-3 hours and he drinks so well, he accepted his bottle right away!
Our staff makes turns to sleep with him at night and our volunteers are also on a baby-sitting schedule during the day to keep an eye on him.
Revive, rejuvenate and restore - that's the power of for animals
We will update you soon on his recovery

Rest in peace, Zulu!
This boy came into our lives almost 13 years ago as a rescue. He was not well and had difficulty eating and breathing, but we were able to pull him through, and we created the sweetest little monster ever. He became an icon and everyone either loved or feared him.
A male meerkat protect the territory they live in fiercely, especially against other male intruders. So even the most burly big male game rangers at the time had the utmost respect for little Zulu, as he would not stand back no matter your size. In his later years, he started settling down and became everyone's favorite.
As he was growing up, he had free range of the lodge gardens and only came home at night to snuggle into his bed, or anyone's bed. During the day, he would spend most of his time with his best friends, Kiki, Gina, Sailor, and the odd wild warthog that would enter the lodge gardens.
He was quick to stand in line to meet new arriving guests, hoping to find something interesting in their luggage!
Now, in his last few years, he loved to go on his foraging walks every day with his friend Pablo and had a wonderful retirement life with us.
His early morning calls and bigger than life attitude will be missed.
He sadly passed away due to complications associated with his old age. Meerkats very rearly get older than 10 years. Our Zulu almost got to the ripe old age of almost 13.
He will leave a worldwide legacy behind as he touched the hearts of hundreds of people.
Thank you to everyone who spent special time with him over the years and loved him unconditionally.
He is resting now and probably chasing angels around just for fun.
RIP Zulu, we miss you boy.
We will always love you, you were one of a kind!
