Our client had spent many years in a retirement village centrally located in Rosebank, and was justifiably anxious to let stuff go, to chose what to take, and which curtains to take 😊. With care and discussions, we navigated the downsizing and packing and set up the new home, carefully positioning the chosen pieces to feel like home.

And of course, family doesn’t need to live overseas to feel the stress of moving elderly parents. The need is local too!

A visual treasure hunt

Isn’t it amazing how flower-spotting can shift the rhythm of daily life from rush-rush to the quiet pace of nature.

I suppose that is why most established retirement villages have such gorgeous gardens - and a resultant sense of calm.

With me it begins with a visual scan, and then I see flickers of colour - and then there I go, off into the gardens. So beautiful!

80 years old and still gorgeous

Sometimes we have the privilege of working in magnificent older houses of Johannesburg. They don't have to be Randlord homes to be magnificent. The craftsmanship, parquet floors and deep red entrance hall ceramic tiles seem to slow one down, breathing quietens and you relax. Strange.

No wonder the new owners were ready, as we cleared each room, to get started with their renovations which will be sympathetic to the original architecture. The sliding doors will remain, as will the floors. Just some modernising.
