Turning Conversations to Impact
For the second year in a row, LEAP had the privilege of attending the Nedbank Top Empowerment Conference 2026 and this year marked an exciting milestone as LAB17 Foundation joined us for the very first time.
Over two inspiring days, we experienced more than insightful discussions. We were part of a space where meaningful conversations sparked new ideas, authentic connections were formed and collaboration took centre stage.
The conference became even more memorable as LEAP was recognised as a Finalist in the Top Empowered Company: Enterprise and Supplier Development of the Year category at the Oliver Top Empowerment Awards. This recognition reflects our continued commitment to empowering businesses, creating opportunities and driving sustainable impact.
To everyone who visited our stand, shared your journey and connected with us, thank you. Every conversation reminded us that meaningful partnerships are built on shared purpose and a vision for lasting change.
Here's to empowering growth, accelerating impact and building a future where people and purpose lead the way.
Big thank you to Top Empowerment, Topco Media, Marlini Mansingh (MBA), Lesego Mautloa and Vuyiswa Mncube

She Saw the Possibility and Built the Future: From Curiosity to Confidence
What happens when young women are given the opportunity to see themselves as scientists, engineers, innovators and problem-solvers?
At Alafang Secondary School and Eketsang Secondary School in Katlehong, that question sparked a powerful reality.
Through the Young Women in STEM programme, learners stepped beyond the boundaries of the classroom and into a world of discovery, innovation and possibility.
The journey began with inspiring stories from STEM professionals who showed learners that success in these fields is not reserved for a select few.
The students attended hands-on exhibitions, interactive learning experiences and engaged in exciting project-building challenges that transformed curiosity into confidence. Learners also received STEM kits, empowering them to continue experimenting and developing the creative and analytical mindset that lies at the heart of STEM learning.
As learners collaborated, experimented and presented their ideas, they developed critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork skills while discovering their own potential.
What made the programme truly remarkable was the determination of the young women themselves. Despite the challenges they face daily, they embraced every opportunity to learn, create and dream bigger.
Their resilience and enthusiasm served as a powerful reminder that talent exists everywhere, but opportunity does not.
By investing in young women today, we are helping to build a future where more young women rise to become the engineers, scientists and innovators who will shape tomorrow's world.
Because empowering women doesn't start when they enter the workplace it starts when they begin believing they belong.
A big thank you to all facilitators, educators,
PROTEC STEM, SAICE, Southern African Institute of Welding, Engineers Without Borders South Africa, University of the Witwatersrand, Tshwane University of Technology, Jahsirs StatHer Pads, our LEAPsters and all the amazing young women. Who made the workshop truly unforgettable.

Every LEAP Counts: Where Sustainability Takes Root
Five schools. One mission. A greener future rooted in the hands of young people.
What if changing the world started with planting a single Spekboom?
Through the Carbon Sequestration Efficiency Programme, in the month of April that simple idea became a powerful movement across five schools. At Alafang Secondary, Buyani Primary, KwaDukathole Comprehensive, Matsediso Primary and Trichardtsfontein Primary School, learners were given more than just plants they were given the opportunity to become environmental changemakers.
More than 2,500 Spekboom plants were distributed, alongside engaging, hands-on environmental education. What began as a sustainability initiative quickly grew into something much bigger: a shared commitment to protecting the planet.
Learners did not simply learn about climate change in a classroom. They planted, nurtured and carried that knowledge home. Each Spekboom became a living reminder that meaningful change is not reserved for governments or corporations it can begin in a schoolyard, a garden, or a family home.
From restoring ecosystems to inspiring responsibility, the programme transformed learners from observers of environmental challenges into active participants in environmental solutions. The impact will continue to grow long after the plants have taken root spreading through households, communities and future generations.
Because every Spekboom planted tells a story.
A story of hope.
A story of action.
A story of young people rising to meet the future.
Every seed counts. Every learner counts. Every action counts. ππ
