Know your adapters? PART 2.

FTF AN ADAPTERS were designed to meet very strict performance standards relating to motorsport and aerospace technologies. FTF Adapters make use of a 37° flare for the sealing surface. It is important not to use AN fittings with different flare-type fittings, as this will likely lead to fluid leaks & damage to the fittings.

FTF fittings range in size from -3 to -20 in irregular steps. These adapters are versatile, allowing you to join plumbing together or split plumbing apart. They can also be used to attach different-sized components. In Part 2, we will be discussing:

✔️Female-to-female union adapters - Female union adapters will join two equal-sized male AN flare ports. Each adapter has an equal-sized AN female port on each end. No sealing washer or O-ring is required. AN-type unions have 37° sealing flares. Three types are available: straight, 45°, and 90°.

✔️Male-to-female union adapters - These fittings come in handy when adapting in tight spaces. They are available in 45° and 90° with an AN female swivel nut on one end and an AN 37° male flare on the other end.

✔️Y-Block or Y-Piece adapters - FTF's range of Y adapters is the perfect solution to complement your fuel line installation. Used to join or split equal or different-sized AN fittings.

✔️Tee Piece adapters - FTF offers a wide range of AN Tee-piece adapter fittings, allowing you to join up to three AN hose end fittings. They are available in both male-to-male or male-to-female, with female on the branch or run side.

Breaking down the basics!

There are three types of AN fittings:

✔️ Push-on fittings: These are hose barb fittings designed for AN threads. They can only be used with reinforced rubber hoses without an outer braid. There are various types of push-on hoses available.

✔️ AN fittings: These are the industry standard fittings that have been in use since World War 2. They are commonly recognised as two-piece fittings and can be used with either steel-braided or nylon-braided rubber core hoses.

✔️ PTFE fittings: PTFE fittings are three-piece fittings used with PTFE (also known as Teflon™) hoses. PTFE hoses can have a steel-braided outer or a black nylon-braided outer.

FTF offers all of these fittings and more. These fittings are available in the standard blue and red colours or in black.
