One needs to go to the bus terminus just to buy a ticket even if actual travel will take place the following day. Alternatively, one can call to reserve a seat - but this does not guarantee the availability of the reserved seat. It is difficult to buy a bus ticket without physically being present in Zambia. This makes it hard to secure a bus ticket in advance. Secondly, there is no easy way to check bus schedules and routes. When one sends a parcel by bus, the sender has to keep calling the operator to check whether or not the parcel has been delivered. On the bus operators’ side, there is a lack of e-commerce presence to allow them easily sell tickets to passengers. WekaBasi is building a digital solution to all the problems above.
