CITAM Plus Joins Zambia in Commemorating World TB Day

CITAM Plus proudly took part in yesterday’s World TB Day commemoration, standing together with the Ministry of Health and partners in reaffirming our collective commitment to ending Tuberculosis in Zambia.

Under the theme of strengthening partnerships and accelerating action, the event highlighted the importance of community engagement, early screening, treatment access, and sustainable financing for TB programmes. As emphasized by Hon. Dr. Alex Katakwe, MP, Minister of Health, Zambia remains committed to eliminating TB by 2030 through accessible and free screening and treatment services.

As CITAM Plus, we remain dedicated to empowering communities, supporting community-based volunteers, and amplifying the voices of TB-affected populations. Our participation in this commemoration reflects our continued role in advocacy, awareness creation, and collaboration with government and stakeholders to strengthen the TB response.

Together with communities, partners, and the Government of the Republic of Zambia, we believe that every contribution counts.

Last week CITAMPLUS successfully conducted Civic Leaders Advocacy Meetings on Malaria Elimination across Kasempa, Mufumbwe, and Solwezi, under the Malaria Elimination Project, with support from the Global Fund through CHAZ. The meetings brought together civic leaders, local authorities, and health teams to strengthen community ownership and leadership in the fight against malaria.

In Kasempa, the meeting was graced by the District Commissioner whose presence reaffirmed the district’s commitment to malaria elimination efforts.

In Mufumbwe, we were honored to have theDistrict Commissioner represented by District Administrative Officer, alongside area councilors and District Health Office (DHO) staff, emphasizing the importance of coordinated leadership at all levels.

In Solwezi, the engagement was led by His Worship the Mayor, highlighting the critical role of local government in mobilizing communities for sustained malaria prevention and elimination.

Across all three districts, the meetings provided a strong platform for dialogue, collaboration, and shared responsibility, with participation from area councilors and District Health Office teams, ensuring strong alignment between civic leadership and the health system.
