RISE UP NOW: IT IS YOUR TIME TO RISE

In 2021, I launched my poetry book, Bloody Rose, at ECL Mall in Kitwe. The launch was graced by the Mayor herself.

Why am I suddenly reminiscing about this book and that moment?

Because Bloody Rose was born out of one of the toughest seasons of my life. I had been discounted by many people. In fact, there was a time when even I thought life was over for me.

But I had to find a fire in my bones and begin rising against all odds.

There was sweat. There were tears. There were painful moments. There were also a few good people who stood by me and helped me along the way.

So, the posture you see in this picture was more than a pose. It was an announcement.

It was me saying, “Baby, I’m back!”

Not back to the level I was before I fell, but back at greater heights.

And today, I want to speak to someone who feels stuck, defeated, powerless or helpless. Maybe your current season is uncomfortable. Maybe it has made you feel like your life is over.

It is not over.

Whatever you are going through is not the end. You can still rise!

Rise above everything that is trying to keep you small.
Rise from that smallness.
Rise from that poverty.
Rise from that affliction.
Rise from that disappointment.
Rise from that brokenness.

Whatever it is—BABY, RISE UP NOW!

And I don’t say this in my own power.

I command you to RISE, by the power that raised Christ from the dead.

I Am a Planner

I am a planner-not just by profession, but at heart.
I think ahead, analyse possibilities, consider outcomes and move intentionally. Some might call it perfectionism.

I once fell in love with a man who told me the reason he couldn’t be with me was because I was a planner at soul. I didn’t move spontaneously enough for him.

It hurt, but it taught me something: Your strength can look like a weakness in the wrong person’s eyes.

🎯Someone may see your intentionality as rigidity. Another will see it as wisdom.

🎯Someone may see your standards as “too much.” Another will admire your excellence.

🎯Someone may see your ambition as intimidating. Another will be inspired by it.

Yes, we should always be willing to grow. But growth does not mean becoming ashamed of the qualities that make us who we are.

So don’t abandon your strengths simply because someone couldn’t appreciate them.

You may not be too much. You may simply be in the wrong room.
