Disability Is Not Inability: Spreading the Gospel of Agroecology

Meet Shalom Mulenga, a young person living with a disability and a passionate advocate for learning, resilience and sustainable agriculture.

After gaining practical skills in producing bio-fertilisers, including tea manure, through the Green Nature initiatives, Shalom took the initiative a step further by sharing the knowledge with learners at Hillside Primary School Production Unit, particularly learners under Special Education.

This is what agroecology is about, learning, applying, sharing and creating impact beyond the training space.

Shalom’s story reminds us that opportunity, knowledge and determination can overcome many barriers. When young people are empowered with practical skills, they become agents of change in their communities.

At Green Nature, we believe in nurturing a generation that can grow food sustainably, protect the environment and inspire others along the way.

Green Nature was honoured to participate in the Citizens' Voice Town Hall Meeting organised by the Civil Society for Poverty Reduction-CSPR , in partnership with SACCORD and BBC Media Action, ahead of Zambia's 2026 General Elections.

The dialogue provided an important platform where aspiring parliamentary candidates and citizens engaged openly on issues affecting the people of Chipata North Constituency with aspring candidates also present during the important dialogue. Discussions focused on development priorities, youth participation, accountability, peaceful elections, and citizen representation.
As an organisation committed to environmental conservation, sustainable livelihoods, youth empowerment, and community development, Green Nature recognises that meaningful and sustainable development is only possible when citizens actively participate in governance and decision-making processes.

Green Nature remains committed to working with government, civil society, communities, and development partners to promote sustainable development while fostering peace, civic responsibility, and inclusive participation for all.
