This morning, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa is presiding over the interment of Cde Edward Raradza at the National Heroes Acre.

Cde Raradza was a former ZANU PF Central Committee member, a religious leader, and a revered farmer. He died on 4 September 2026 at Milton Park Medical Centre after suffering heart failure. He was 79. Forever Associates Zimbabwe - FAZ

15 SEPTEMBER DECLARED MUNHUMUTAPA DAY

His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared 15 September of every year a public holiday to be known as Munhumutapa Day, in terms of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act [Chapter 10:21].

This morning, His Excellency President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa witnessed the signing ceremony between Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd, represented by CEO, Executive Chairman and Special Advisor to the President on Waste Management and Environment Dr Dilesh Nguwaya, and Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection Co. Ltd at State House in Harare.

The signing marks the final phase of the Geo Pomona Project, which includes:
1. Refuse Waste Collection
2. Construction of a Sorting Plant
3. Encapsulation of waste that can no longer be used to generate energy
4. Development of Landfills to manage waste
5. Construction of a Water Treatment Plant

All these project components have been feeding into the overall goal of the Geo Pomona Project: the construction of a Waste-to-Energy Plant.

The Waste-to-Energy Plant is expected to reduce landfill pressure, generate clean electricity, and create jobs, while promoting a cleaner and healthier Harare. The project is a key step towards achieving Vision 2030 and NDS2 targets on sustainable urban development, environmental management, and energy security.
