Econet has bowed to mounting pressure from sections of Zimbabwean social media, replacing South African duo Mafikizolo with Zimdancehall superstar Winky D for the post-Econet Victoria Falls Marathon concert.

The decision comes as online campaigns intensify ahead of the June 30 deadline, with some Zimbabweans demanding that local events prioritise homegrown talent over South African performers.

Smart4u confirmed the concert will proceed as scheduled, with the rest of the lineup unchanged. The debate is far from over, however, as attention now shifts to other upcoming shows featuring South African artistes.

Some concerts that were scheduled to feature South African artistes have been cancelled or postponed.

We move! Ndevapi vamwe vasati vabviswa, mara neh? 👀

Zimbabwean artists may not be aware of this but a recently released dataset by The Atlantic AI Watchdog has revealed their music is being used to train AI models illegally. Muchishona ma song evaimbi venyu arikushandiswa kudzidzisa AI kuti igone kuimba semaimbiro avo nekunyora shona yakadzama.

According to the database over 126 Jah Prayzah songs have been used by AI, over 109 Winky D songs have been used also. 74 Dorcas Moyo songs have been used along with artists from other genres. The artists are not benefiting a single cent from the applications that are using their music to train their AI models. The biggest AI singing company Suno AI is now valued at US$5.4 billion through subscriptions.

American artist SZA has threatened legal action against AI companies after discovering 238 of her songs had been used without her authorization. Should artists receive payment since their music is being used as reference tracks by AI?

Charly Black at Mabhaditi festival🔥🔥🔥💯

Robert Mugabe’s son, Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe, and his co-accused, Thobias Mugabe Matonhodze, have been charged with attempted murder, defeating the course of justice by hiding the gun used in the crime, and unlawful possession of a fi***rm.

The attempted murder charge relates to the shooting of a gardener at the Mugabe residence in Johannesburg on Thursday. The gardener, who was severely injured, is in hospital receiving treatment for his wounds.

When South African police arrived at the scene, they could not find the gun, and it has not yet been recovered.

The case has been postponed to 3 March, where they can apply for bail. The State is opposed to bail. Chatunga is Robert Mugabe’s third and last born child with his second wife, Grace Mugabe.

Grace Mugabe cannot come to South Africa to support her son because of a warrant of arrest issued in 2017 after she allegedly assaulted South African model Gabriella Engels at a Johannesburg hotel.

The shooting, which happened at the Mugabe residence in Johannesburg’s upmarket, leafy suburb of Hyde Park, is the latest in a litany of cases involving Mugabe’s sons.
The Johannesburg house was bought for the Mugabe boys when their father was still in power in 2017 for R43 million, which was the equivalent of about US$3.2 million at the time.

Charly Black is bringing the ultimate Jamaican vibes to Zimbabwe! 🇿🇼 Mark your calendars for May 2, 2026, because the Bhanditi Festival is about to be legendary. You don't want to miss the "Country Boy" live on stage! 🎤🔥
