At Rugare Mews, the focus was simple: create a reliable solar solution that could take the household towards complete energy independence while delivering an added benefit to the surrounding community.

The system comprises:

32 × Jinko 580W Solar Panels
1 × Victron 15kVA Quattro Inverter
40kWh BYD LV Battery Storage
4 × Victron 250/100 MPPTs

The carefully designed Victron ESS provides reliable, intelligent energy management, allowing the home to maximise solar generation while storing excess energy for use when needed.

But the benefits extend beyond the household.

When the home is producing more solar energy than it requires, the surplus can be used to support the community borehole, helping provide a reliable source of energy for an essential shared resource.

This project is a great example of how a well-designed solar system can deliver energy independence while creating a positive impact beyond the property itself.

Arundel School required a solution tailored to its operational requirements while remaining cost-effective. Through the close collaboration between One Stop Solar and Solis, the project gained early access to the newly launched 125kW Solis Hybrid Inverter, making this one of the first commercial installations in Zimbabwe to deploy the technology.

The result is a highly efficient hybrid system that provides reliable power, intelligent energy management, and the flexibility to support the school’s energy needs well into the future.

Despite having a dedicated ZESA supply, the scale of MegaMarket’s energy demand made solar the clear choice to reduce operating costs and improve long-term energy efficiency.

The solar plant has been seamlessly integrated with the existing multi-generator power system through an advanced Energy Management System (EMS), enabling intelligent control of multiple power sources while ensuring uninterrupted operation.

The Pump House solution was originally specified as a solar VSD system. By incorporating battery energy storage, the project now not only stores excess solar generation for later use but also exports surplus energy back to the national grid, allowing Borrowdale Brooke to earn energy credits and maximise the return on its investment.
