Visitation Makumbi High School Celebrates Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola with Faith, Talent and Community Spirit

Chaplaincy Visitation Makumbi, Zimbabwe, July 31 – Visitation Makumbi High School commemorated the Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola on July 31 with a vibrant celebration of faith, fellowship and talent, bringing together students, staff and members of the wider school community.

The day began with a Holy Mass in honour of St Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. During the Eucharistic celebration, several students received the Sacrament of Baptism while others made their First Holy Communion, marking important milestones in their spiritual journey.

The school community also took time to acknowledge and thank its dedicated catechists for their tireless commitment to faith formation. Their efforts in preparing students for the sacraments and nurturing their spiritual growth continue to play a vital role in the life of the school.

Joining the celebrations were students and staff from the neighbouring private institution, Hilltop School, who participated in the day's activities, fostering friendship and strengthening bonds between the two schools.

Following the Mass, the celebrations moved into a festive programme that included a choir competition, where students showcased their musical talents through spirited and inspiring performances. Sporting activities also formed part of the day's programme, promoting teamwork, discipline and healthy competition among the learners.

The Feast Day concluded with a braai, allowing students and staff from both schools to share moments of fellowship and celebration in a relaxed atmosphere.

The celebrations reflected the values of St Ignatius of Loyola, whose legacy of faith, service and excellence continues to inspire young people. Through prayer, community and joyful participation, Visitation Makumbi High School honoured its patron saint and strengthened the bonds that unite its school community.
