On December 12, 2025, the SIU released its Director's Report concerning the death of Liam Hatton, and the shooting of Dylan Hatton. Despite the findings of the SIU's investigation, the family of Liam and Dylan Hatton has commenced a $17.5 million lawsuit against members of the South Simcoe Police Service.

The family remains committed to seeking justice for both Liam and Dylan in respect of what happened on August 15, 2024. For more information click here:

On June 8, 2026, the SIU released a corrigendum to its Director's Report concerning the death of Jenna Ostberg, acknowledging errors in the original report issued in July 2025. Despite these corrections, the SIU again concluded that no charges were warranted.
