Posted speed limits represent the maximum speed you can drive under ideal road conditions. But when weather conditions worsen, or roads are slick and icy, it's important to slow down for your safety and the safety of others.
In Ontario, while there’s no specific ticket for adjusting your speed based on weather or road conditions. You could still face charges for careless driving if an officer believes you're not driving with "due care and attention" or without "reasonable consideration" for other road users.
When traction and/ or visibility are reduced, always adjust your speed accordingly. Stay safe and drive responsibly.

❄️ Winter Driving Safety Tips ❄️
As the snow starts to fall, it’s essential to take extra precautions when hitting the road. Here are some quick tips to keep you safe this winter:
1️⃣ Keep a safe distance 🚗💨 — More space between cars means more time to react.
2️⃣ Use your headlights 💡 — Even during the day, low visibility makes it harder for others to see you.
3️⃣ Plan your route 🗺️ — Check the weather and road conditions before you head out.
4️⃣ Winter tires are a must 🚙❄️ — They provide better grip than all-season tires on icy roads.
5️⃣ No cruise control in winter 🚫 — You need full control over your speed in slippery conditions.
6️⃣ Give snowplows space 🚜❄️ — Don’t try to pass; they’re clearing the way for you!
7️⃣ When in doubt, stay home ⏰❌ — If conditions are too risky, delay your trip.
8️⃣ Dress smart 🧤 — Thin-soled shoes & leather gloves help you drive better.
9️⃣ Slow down 🚗❄️ — Adjust your speed to match the road conditions!
🛑 Stay safe, avoid accidents, and keep your driving record clean this winter! 🚗❄️

Did you know that tires have an expiration date, even if the tread looks fine? 🛞 It’s not just about wear and tear — age can affect your tire’s performance, putting you and your passengers at risk.
Over time, tires can develop cracks, dry rot, or even degrade internally, making them less reliable. Here's how you can ensure your tires are safe for the road this new year:
🔍 Check the Manufacture Date: Every tire has a DOT number printed on its sidewall. The last four digits of this number tell you the week and year your tire was made. For example, “2319” means the tire was made in the 23rd week of 2019.
🛠 Get Your Tires Inspected: Even if you don’t see visible signs of damage, it’s always a good idea to have a mechanic check for cracking, abnormal wear, or expiration. Don’t take chances — your safety is worth it!
Keep your ride smooth and safe this year! 💪

Are your car seats expired? Every car seat and booster seat in Canada has a "useful life date" or expiry date on the seat and base. If you have difficulty locating it, you can call the manufacturer for assistance.
Remember, in Ontario a car seat or booster seat must be used with children under eight years old, or you may get a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act.
